The reported number right now is 10 mil that they're under.

With rolling that over and being smart in terms of structuring deals, the cap isn't an issue

Here was my analysis in another thread with #'s from potential cuts.

DeVito-$4 million can draft a decent run stuffer
Avery-$3.55 million not worth it
Daniel-$3.8 million not worth it
Fasano-$1.975 million we can draft a run blocking TE to replace him
Mays-$3 million not missing him THAT much for his price tag. Can draft a guy
J. Allen-$1.23 million we won't miss him and don't now
Jenkins-$1.33 million not worth it
V. Walker-$1.75 Bailey took his job and Cat will be back. Not worth 10 snaps per game avg

That's $20.63 million saved.

O city is correct. Nick Jacobs reported that the Chiefs had $11.33 on the cap on September 5th according the NFLPA. We had to sign a couple cheap guys like Jamell Flemming, so it probably puts us down around $10 million.

That's not even counting potential restructures.

10-currently in cap
10-added cap inflation
15- rough guesstimate of saving from cuts

We'll have over $30 million. Probably somewhere around 30-35. And at least 13 of that is going to Houston.

The 10 million is with this year's rollover after the cap inflates 7 million. I don't get some of you guys and mathematics. Jesus H. Christ.

O.city 11-14-2014 05:17 PM

Pretty sure you can continue to roll unused money over.

In any manner, with the way contracts can be done, the cap should never really be an issue

Cap Math Lesson: Exhibit A
Next year's cap: $140,000,000
Next year's cap hits ALREADY on the books: $135,734,675 (Active Spending: 130,408,172 + Dead Money: 5,326,503)
Cap space in 2015: $4,265,325
Chiefs cap space available for rollover from 2014: $4,853,020
Total potential cap space BEFORE any moves are made: $9,118,345
The Chiefs have 20 Free Agents.
One of those free agents JUSTIN HOUSTON, whose contract (if re-signed) is likely to cost $14,000,000 or so AGAINST THE CAP in 2015.
$14 million is greater than $9.1 million.

Given recent news of the size of the extension Bailey received, this is going to put a significant crinkle in what I've outlined here. Minimum cap hit he'll be is near 3.5 million in 2015.

Chiefs may just have to let Hali go outright at this point, else find a way to gain money from other sources (Bowe, Berry, etc)

There's a lot of people that don't do the maths in this here thread.

I think a ton of this is being awfully generous.

The Chiefs aren't going to be doing this much turnover for three consecutive seasons. They're going to keep half the people you have them cutting. My guess is the cap space we'll have to dance will with be about $20m, with nearly 100% of it going to Houston (most likely the tag), Hudson, Parker, and the rookies.

The Chiefs will re-sign some of the dirt cheap guys like Mauga, I expect, and bring in a couple more street free agents that cost pennies on the dollar.

We're not going to be big swinging dicks this year.
