If the first down marker is ten yards away, then someone please show me a stat that a higher# of attempts of passes 20+ yards down the field is associated with more points scored per drive.
The fascination with deep throws is a product of morons who think fantasy football applies to the actual game

Apparently NFL Network ranks in the top 100 players in the league after last year's performance. Maclin loves Smith. Tamba says he's highly underrated.

But yea you must be right about him... :shake:

It just makes sense for the Chiefs.. or at least, made sense thus far.

when you have a poor pass pro OL, and underwhelming deep threat WRs..
when you have excellent RBs and TE..
when you typically have a good to great defense and STs for field position..
when you have a selfless QB that only wants to win and doesn't want to throw games away..

Minimize the offensive risks.

That's just smart football.. and with an average of 10+ wins a season, it shows.

They just need to be better prepared... whether ready-made plan B scheme.. +/or an upgraded depth chart.. for when and if the major injuries occur again. Horribly timed injuries are what have been keeping the Chiefs away from SBs.

While I don't agree with Claythan's point of view, whenever someone brings this argument to the table, I just have to point out that Tony Gonzalez kinda loved Tyler Thigpen.

Between Green and Smith, Thiggy was the top of the mountain.

And how does this discredit the fact that Smith and Maclin connected on 70% of their attempts?

It's not about being in the top 10.

It's about not being DEAD ****ING LAST.

It doesn't discredit the connection between Maclin and Smith.

It does bring into question the opinions offered up by players.

Vernon Davis loved Alex too, his career tanked the moment Alex was out of SF.

I don't think there's any question that Alex Smith is a better QB than some give him credit for (myself included, at the time of the trade and through his first season as a Chief), and he has grown in his three years under Reid.

But he has been a guy that worked the middle of the field really well for 6 or 7 years, and Davis was absolutely a beneficiary of that strength.
