Every play he avoids in preseason to avoid injury leads to increased risk of injury during the first 3/4 games of the regular season.

The tag money is guaranteed once he signs it whether he blows his knee out in a preseason game or blows it out during the regular season. Same money either way.

He went through chemotherapy and didn't get injured at any point in the season. He was weaker at the start of last season than he is now so I'm confident not going to training camp won't lead to injury for him. If he does get injured then it wont be because he missed TC. He tore his ACL a fee years ago the first or second game of the season, was that because he attended training camp?

And the cap money is not all that matters. He's also wanting a long term deal and if he suffered an Achilles injury or soemthing like that, his long term offer next year would be significantly lower.

The Chiefs estimated Salary Cap next year is $166 million but currently, they have players under contract for $170.5 million, which includes Foles at $10 million, Mauga at $3 million, Charles at $7 million, Colquitt at $5 million.

While it's possible we could see those players cut or restructured, I still don't believe it'll be enough to carry a $12 million dollar per safety, as they have other needs (and the draft).

The Chiefs wouldn't be paying him $12 million next year. First year cap hits are always small and the player gets more guaranteed $$.

I realize that but it would astounding if the Chiefs signed Berry to a long term deal in 2017, because it would have been far less expensive to make it happen in 2016.

Hopefully Berry will come around at the end of the year and give us a hometeam discount. Charles, DJ and Fisher all did so maybe he'll follow. I mean if we'r ever gonna be sucessfull over a long period like the Pats we need a core of team players.

Well they maybe could do it.

-Rolling over $$ this year would create a little over $8 million in 2017.
-Cap rise will probably be around $5 million making it $13 million.
-Extending Foles could lower his $10 million 2017 cap hit year 1 to save around $5 million.

That's $18 million without cutting Mauga and cutting/restructuring Colquitt.

Not sure if that will work, but we have $27 million in 2018 to push the 2nd year cap hits for Poe and Berry.

it seems pretty obvious berry and the chiefs are parting ways

kelce and fisher were handled, and poe will be next

someone had to be the odd man out, berry it is
