In the Texans/raiders scenario, you avoid the steelers or pats til the afc champ game.

In the 2 seed scenario, you are likely to have to beat both Pit and go to NE.

Even being on the road, I'd rather face Tom savage, Matt mggloin and Tom Brady big ben than just the latter two.

Excellent stuff Marcellus !!

The 5 or 6 seed also forces us to play an additional game with another 100+ snaps for important guys to get hurt.

I just want to be healthy and I like our chances. Pitt is a bad matchup but so is NE. Is the goal to win a playoff game or win the Super Bowl?

Agreed. If you want to win a SB, you gotta beat good football teams at some point.

Agreed.

Last year the Chiefs lost Maclin to an ankle injury in the Wild Card game which rendered him ineffective vs. New England.

Also Houston already beat the Chiefs this season despite shitty QB play, so it isn't like playing them with Savage would equal an automatic win.

You know that's true and a good way to think of it. The bye gives you a week off and 1 less game to play or have to win.

More likely to win 3 games vs 4 and have everyone stay healthy.

2 seed with a bye hosting PIT in the divisional round

Or

5 seed with Oakland 1 seed where we are @Houston and then @Oakland in divisional round

It's interesting. I'm taking the bye because pit could even be beaten. But basically you could say @hou/@oak is better than bye/pit. I don't agree but I think you could make the point.

Yeah, no matter what, I'm rooting for a division win because playoff games are never guaranteed.

But there's gotta be a part that wonders... how much do you beat up an exhausted team to get a longshot chance at a bye with a tough set of matchups?

Going 6-0 in division but somehow not getting 1st place would be really odd

But what if you treated San Diego like a virtual bye week? I wouldn't do it. But it's an interesting thing to consider. Hell, wouldn't be the first time our backups clowned the SD starters.

I'd rather have the bye week in the playoffs.

The #1 or 2 seed is incredibly important.

75.6% (31/41) of all Super Bowl winners in the "seeding era" were a 1 or 2 seed (56.1% or 23/41 for the 1s and 19.5% or 8/21 for the 2s). The next highest is a 4 seed at 12.2% (5/41), followed by 3 and 6 seeds at 4.9% (2/41 each), and 5 seeds at 2.4% (1/41).

That one less game to have to win really matters.

cmdrzman 12-27-2016 07:13 PM

It'd be my luck to see that frekin red head dude from Penn State just light it up sunday.. We gotta win this game sunday.. nothing would suck more ass if we go to Oakland and lose in the playoffs... I will walk into my office the next day with an axe and start swinging

Halfcan 12-27-2016 07:17 PM

All roads go through New England, the best team in football. If the Chiefs want the ring-they need to man up and go up there and get it.

I don't want people to say we are not legit because we did not beat the Steelers and Pats.
