PR stunt to draw interest from other teams.
|
Maaaaaan, this is sad. Reads like he got word through the grapevine that he was going to be let go by Chiefs after the season ends and this is a desperation move to let others within the league know he still wants to play.
If he comes back next year it will be on an adjusted deal. Chiefs brass let him know their intent either to let him prepare to look for a new team out of respect, or as a negotiation tactic to prepare him to take a new deal. Seems like they see him as a legacy back they hope can have flashes for us again in the future on a minimal deal, and he still sees himself as a star RB. |

After reading the article, it sounds like he'll be good to go by camp next year. Getting his knees scoped and cleaned out will really help him. Tamba had this same procedure and he hasn't had much trouble with his knees this year.
The added benefit for Jamaal is that he had his procedure done in November whereas Tamba did his in February. This procedure usually needs some time to adjust and the extra 3 months will help Jamaal immensely. He'll restructure and split carries with Ware and it will be amazing having the guy back. Even if he's tailing off, he's still a damn good back. I doubt his straight line speed has fallen off much. |
I really hope he will lower his contract and come back. He's not done and will be bad ass once again in my opinion. If he walks we will regret it.

He made some nice money while playing. He should retire while he still has most of his original knees left.

The same goes for Houston and Hali IMO, it's time for them to start having some sort of play-based incentive. I know that sounds terrible, but at the end of the day it's a business. |

I would guess they will restructure his contract and he comes back strong next year. I hope he retires a Chief. |

The game last year was pretty important. (Pats, same) What makes this one more important than those? JW |
Good person, great running back, nearing the end of his career and now way overpaid and too big a risk for most teams.
He probably knows he must take a paycut to stay with the Chiefs and as much as I would hate to see him in anyone else's uniform, I don't want to waste a lot of money on him at this point in time. |
It may only be a small sliver of hope, but I'm going to hold out hope that he comes back to KC next year
I believe he can still be close enough to his old self to make that worthwhile, he is an outlier physical specimen like Adrian Peterson... another very productive season or two isnt out of the question IMO Get well, JC! |
