So what happens to our cap space if we cut Smith? Trust me, I know this won't happen...just wondering...one can fantasize.

If Poe were completely healthy it would be a harder choice, but with the back problems, you can't choose him over Berry.

I am sure the contract will get done with Berry and I wish Poe well.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Eric Murray better be ready! Put the heat on Berry to come out and perform. Berry loses a ton of cash and future value if he doesn't play a significant part of the season

This will get resolved but it will take until the deadline in July. There was no way this was getting done so early.

No surprise here.

This is just hardball.

Chiefs basically telling Berry's people lets get this done, we will use the tag if we have to. Also a good trial balloon on letting Poe walk. These are just tactics. Still think Berry is signed by Wednesday, but Poe is gone.

Quesadilla Joe 02-27-2017 09:41 AM

The Chiefs have known for nearly a year what Berry's number is, and he's shown that he's not going to budge from it. Playing the tag game with him again isn't going to get him to lower his asking price. They should just get a deal done or tag and trade him.

The cap went up which means the % of his deal went up. It's a new year.

Here's why I would be hesitant to sign Berry to a long term contract;

http://www.everydayhealth.com/lympho...omes-back.aspx

The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be approximately 8,830 new cases of Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosed this year. Of those, says Anas Younes, MD, director of clinical and translational research in the department of lymphoma and myeloma at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, “about 20 percent will relapse or become refractory [resistant to primary treatment], often within two years of when the individual finishes treatment.”

Yet there's more on-topic conversation in those threads by far. Wonder why...

He's the heart of this team like no one has been since DT...

Eleazar 02-27-2017 12:36 PM

There are plenty of us who don't usually look at a thread after 4 or 5 pages, since it's usually devolved into nothing useful.

A significant development getting its own thread is great.

My thoughts are pretty simple on this - pay the man...

We won't make a Superbowl in the next five years without Berry. Peters and Kelce will be unleashed and the inmates will run the asylum. It took a long time to find leadership. I believe that he won't play under the tag. If Dorsey doesn't get him locked up, it will be his biggest failure. You don't let Hall of Famers walk and he is the only HOFer on the team.
