I don't have a problem with that if Dorsey thinks he's worth it.

Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu and Brian Dawkins all played well into their 30s.

Berry is extremely athletic but his game doesn't rely on speed. Assuming full health, I think he'll be elite into his early-mid thirties.

Our Dline didn't seem that good this year WITH poe.

Yeah, the dl was having to bring guys off the street by the end of the year, same with the ilb spot.

Wouldn't surprise me if they hit those spots during the draft

For the entire season really, RNR stepped up big time and we all know how beastly Jones is. Even without Poe that's a really solid rotation with Bailey and Howard.

This is why you let Poe Walk: We have a lot of good options under contract.

Allen Bailey Age: 27 Under Contract Through: 2018
Jaye Howard Age: 28 Under Contract Through: 2017
Chris Jones: Age: 22 Under Contract Through: 2019
Rakeem Nunez-Roches Age: 23 Under Contract Through: 2017
Kendall Reyes Age: 27 Under Contract Through: 2017
T.J. Barnes Age: 26 Under Contract Through: 2017

Barnes is still pretty unproven though.

Berry gonna be so mad.

Mr. Laz 02-27-2017 03:06 PM

Non-exclusive franchise tag player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if the player signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

That way Berry gets to see a true market value and the Chiefs get to match or get to negotiate a trade for draft picks. Maybe Berry won't be so pissed if he sees the offers from other teams. Chiefs will also get to see his league value.

RippedmyFlesh 02-27-2017 03:54 PM

Non exclusive tag is way to go. It is uncharted territory really because it will be a record deal for a safety no matter where he signs. Best case he sees what is out there and the chief's offer was right ballpark.

I agree, he is going to be the highest paid safety in the league no matter where he goes. He may not find that the grass is THAT much greener, but it would also give the Chiefs a chance to see if they're in the ballpark.

One of Andy's old Eagles buddies had an interesting comment about Berry threatening not to play on the tag...

Played a ton of snaps more so than most interior lineman. The chiefs squeezed the most they could from him. He will be over paid and deal with a bad back. Have at him.

Sweet Jesus, I hope this report is true.

I've never understood this forum's fascination with Poe. For a guy that is supposedly dominant, he sure gets swallowed up by single blockers a lot - and ends up on his ass a lot as well.

Christ, people here think he's the second coming of Haloti Ngata in his prime.

Nope.
