So? Put on your big boy pants and explain the economics of the situation.

I know you're not denying that, but WHAT THE ACTUAL **** ARE WE DOING.

If this is the actual compensation, Veach is derelict in doing his job.

Thank God the Chiefs got Mahomes. If they had re-upped with Alex and done this trade, I'm not sure how much longer I would have cared.

Can you imagine this place if they would have given Alex an extension, then followed it up with this Peters trade?

LMAO... :fire:

If you believe he can pull that Alex Smith deal but then do this one the only thing that makes sense is he was told to get rid of Peters no matter what, that kinda kills any negotiating power.

Absolutely, man. Absolutely. This is just asinine.

Reid REELED PETERS IN after the suspension last year. Berry will be on the field in 2018, and is far more suited to reeling in Peters than someone like Houston or Parker.

And honestly you can just live with it. You can live with the really dumb shit he does for another two years, three if you want to tag him. After that you let him walk and you get a 3rd out of it. I'd rather take a 2020 3rd + two more years of Marcus Peters than a 2018 4th + 2019 2nd + no Marcus Peters.

And you never know if teams will be willing to pay us more down the road.

THIS JUST SO DAMN STUPID.

GOD.

Alex Smith had at least 6 teams calling for him.

Peters only really had 1.

That's on Peters.

It's also on Veach for even entertaining this terrible deal.

It's on Dorsey for wanting to pull the trigger on an insane person in 2015.

It's on Reid who said "this guy's going to be tough but worth it" to Dorsey than being unwilling to continue reeling him in.

It's on Hunt for refusing to support Peters and likely caving to STH's who are crying themselves to sleep because a black guy is peacefully protesting.

It's on everybody at One Arrowhead Drive. They all failed this team.

The only way when you see this is all your gonna get back in a trade and don't say "ok nevermind not moving on that" is if you have to trade him, you can't say no.

Unless Peters reeled Peters in based on the promise of a trade.

Or if you really do this is what's best for the team.

Let's not excuse Veach in this, please. He's the one that pulled the trigger.

Unless the team wants to tell us who is responsible for this, and they won't, they all take it.

Shrug.

They won't tell us anything, so we have to figure it out.

Yep. Without knowing if he had direct orders to get rid of him immediately or not (I assume he did), I think he did the best he could. The rest of this, woof.

That’s what makes all of this speculative on our part for most of this, we weren’t around Marcus 24/7. We only know what we watched and what was reported aka coach altercation. At least we got a 2nd out of this. It’s next year but I’ll take it given the circumstances

threebag 02-26-2018 02:20 PM

At least there's always the Browns, right?

This might be the dumbest comment I've read about the compensation.

31 other teams had an opportunity to trade for Marcus Peters for a 4th round pick this year and only ONE made the deal.

Think about that:

The Vikings, who already have a great defense, passed on him.

The Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champs, passed on him.

The Saints, whose defense turned a corner this year but lost to the Vikings passed on him.

The Falcons, who have a good defense but would have clearly upgraded with Peters passed on him.

The Green Bay Packers, who need a shit ton of help on defense, passed on him.

The Bears, led by Matt Nagy, who are likely to lose Kyle Fuller to Free Agency, passed on him.

Many, many Super Bowl contenders passed on Peters. Hell, the Eagles gave up a 4th round pick for Jay Ajayi, but wouldn't give up a 4th for Peters.

Only one team wanted this guy.

One.

Soooooooo let's enter into negotiations with a team when we have no leverage.

Tell me Dane: which do you want.

OPTION A

2018 4th
2019 2nd
no Marcus Peters

OPTION B
2 more years of Marcus Peters
2020 3rd

I know you said you're withholding judgement, which is honestly the only fair reaction, but Option B seems so much better than A it's hilarious.

threebag 02-26-2018 02:23 PM

The compensation hits you in the feels, but glad we passed on him too.
