We also drafted Hill in the 5th and the stakes were much lower.
And yeah that's what's worrying. Hardman had two years under his belt with these question marks while Hill had 0. |
A+
All 3 guys we selected could have gone in the first round in some years. Fantastic value at each spot and didn’t give up much to get a guy with jets like Desean Jackson. The Thornhill pick at the end of the second was a perfect pick at that spot. I’m a huge fan of the guys we got so far. Add in Frank Clark to the guys we drafted and this draft was a huge win already. |
Who here still thinks Veach sucks lol

- They had their eyes on him - They were getting a lot of calls from teams trying to trade up to 61 - They got a call from the Rams trying to trade down - They figured it was the time that the WR's were going to have a run, and didn't like how many teams were calling up - Veach decided to pull the trigger - They take Hardman - After the pick, the Chiefs called back all the teams who were trying to trade up to 61 to see if they were interested in 63, and all the teams said "no, thanks." - He then finds out from his scouts' connections that a lot of teams wanted Hardman |
DL should be set to GOD mode the next few years and will be coached by a guy that loves setting those guys loose.
Clark-Ogbah-Kpass Jones-Saunders Nnadi-Williams-Hamilton Speaks-Okafor The linebackers still need some work. Need 2 new ILBs. Or maybe House doesn’t think we need anything and that’s why Veach hasn’t targeted linebackers much. Wilson-DOD Ragland-Spaight Hitchens-Niemann This CB group needs a top shelf guy to move everyone else down one notch, where they should be much more effective. If Veach can get PP, this group goes from average/below average to top 5-7 in the league. Ward-Reasor Breeland-Smith Fuller-Johnson This is a nasty safety group with Thornhill opposite Badger. Speed and playmaking ability just oozing from each of them. I genuinely think this will be a top 5 safety tandem in the NFL. Thornhill-Watts Badger-Lucas-Sorensen In short, get us a LEGIT CB1 and MLB and this defense has a chance to be nasty. I wouldn’t be surprised if these are the starting LBers game one: DOD Hitchens Niemann. |

Your football takes are highly respected on here - so tell me... Did you think Veech could turn this D around into a strength on this team in 1 Offseason? I sure didn't. |
There’s still work to do, but no.
The way he was decisive in his decisions to move on from certain players and to target other players is quite impressive. If he makes a trade for PP, I can see this defense being top 10 next year. Maybe top 5-7 If teams want to **** with us and play “keep away” by running the ball and killing clock, we have some straight up DOGS out there now to stop the run. I’m thinking Daly is going to have this group as one of the better run defenses in football, fairly quickly. They just need another LB and a top shelf corner to make the defense complete. This team has a good chance of winning a Super Bowl. |

Hardman probably would have been there anyway and besides there were other good WR on the board you just go to the next guy on the list. Quit drinking the koolaid like he's the only guy we could have chosen. The OP asked a grade and that's my opinion. |
Guys this defense doesn’t have to be top 10.
