I'm digging the way Powell sounds here, he comes off like a really sharp guy... wiser than his years

I'm truly excited about our defense this year, The secondary has potential. Baker and Hughes were both the number 30th pick in the first round in their drafts. Sneed ,Fenton and Ward are all solid.

Really think Powell is gonna be a beast for us. May not be fully until next season, but he’s got a good chance to make some noise now that Sammy is gone and the #2 is still up for grabs.

Nice, that's the attitude you want from the new kids - confident yet humble, and willing to admit it's about more than physical tools. Points for him giving Watkins props, as well.

We all know Reids system is notoriously difficult for rookie receivers, but I've got a real hunch he's gonna break the mold a little bit there, and make some serious contributions

Agreed. Really good stuff, right down to the Watkins answer.

I've been very clear how I'm pulling for him to crack the starting lineup. He's got a physicality our other WR's don't have and could be perfect in this system, especially considering the other players lining up around him (of course you can make that same argument for Robinson or Hardman as well). If he proves he can adjust his routes according to blitzes and be a blocker in the run/screen game, he might have a chance.

And how good is this kid living going from Lawrence to Mahomes? Another angle that he has in his favor - he's used to having a superstar throw him the ball.

Chiefs S Juan Thornhill wasn’t 100% last season as he came back from his ACL injury his rookie year. Admitted today that he was at times a 1/2 step slow on plays. He skipped OTAs because he wanted to get his knee 100% for training camp, so he worked on it heavily during that time

Per James Palmer

Biggest question marl on the team IMO. Our CB's could be great to bad to anything in-between. And probably will be all of those at different points. :p

He definitely didn't resemble himself before his injury last year. Hopefully he really is good to go - he and Mathieu are as good a tandem at safety as there is when they're both running at zero defects.

Yep, ya gotta love how Veach and co finally decided that this corp needed a different kinda guy... a muscular bruiser who can do the dirty work

It actually fits in with the philosophy shift we've seen along the O line, moving from finesse pass pro specialists, to a bigger more powerful model

Good article. But I disagree- it will be easy to replace Sammy. We got next to nothing but a bench warmer from him last year. We won't miss him or his salary cap number.

Powel has Super Star potential. His speed is deceptive and he tracks the ball like a vet. This is another Reek type pick.

When Powel does get on the field he will be up against what...their 3rd or 4th best defensive back? Got to love that match up. :thumb:

It's tough to project the defense this year. They have several unheralded guys who are loaded with potential. A player like Taco could either be a breakout star or a brokedick who plays two games.
