I'm just not convinced they are some AFC powerhouse because of a 4-pt win in week 2 over a banged up Ravens team. Let's see how they do against the Bills ne t.week.

I wasn’t joking

Mmmm, let's take another look at this game.

BAL was dominating this game until the 4th Q. BAL scored 35 points through 3 quarters, MIA 14. Then the BAL defense decided to just up and forget that Tyreek Hill could run really fast and let him run by them twice for a pair of 50+ yard scores, which is what it took for MIA to just tie the game.

Somebody shit the bed, and it seems pretty obvious that it was the BAL defense/DC more than it was the incredible play of the MIA offense, though they did play well once they got themselves back into it, a la Reek.

I mean look at the BAL offensive stats:

Lamar passing:

21/29
318 yds
11.0yd/att
3TD, 0 INT
0 sacks
86.0QBR/142.6 PRTG

Rushing:

155yds/rushing (L. Jackson 119yds/9carries)

I mean, if any team in the league has that stat line, you're first guess is that they won the game. Even looking at their defensive stats, they don't look terrible. Okay, yeah, they gave up 469yds passing, but only 86 yds rushing. They got a pair of INTs, a sack, 7 PDs, 4 TFLs, two QB hits, and scored a defensive TD.

Aside from the passing yards, the defense statistically played a decent game.

Of course, Stats don't show the inexcusable breakdown that allowed Tyreek to run free down the sideline twice for long scores that ultimately tied up the game, but metrics are everything, so we don't care what our eyes see, right?

My take is that MIA was getting their shit pushed in for 45+ minutes when the DC for BAL decided to mail it in or something equally stupid, allowing the MIA offense to finally get some traction until the Tyreek lightning strikes happened. Without those two inexplicable mistakes by the BAL D, the Dolphins still lose by two scores.

But MIA is a legitimate playoff contender with Tyreek. Not a SB contender, or even a legit AFC championship contender, but a pretty good playoff contender as of right now.

They did a film and snap count breakdown of the game on the local radio station this evening. Apparently Justin Houston was in for 82% of the snaps and their other edge rusher (Campbell?) was in for 78% because they're down edge rushers/outside linebackers. The Ravens basically ran them into the ground that game and they were literally running on fumes by the end of the game.

The Ravens did a piss-poor job building their defense this past off-season. All the local sports commentators tried asking the Ravens coaches/GM what their strategy was and the only answer was a John Harbaugh smug grin and "Trust the process".

Well, I don't think there was a process . . .

Exactly. I just can't believe all the clowns here that refuse to acknowledge that the Fins are good.

WTF? Is this serious?

They scored 13 offensive points in week 1, and faced maybe the worst passing defense in the league in week 2.

And it's blatantly obvious that they're "light years" better than two offenses with much better QBs? LMAO

There’s like one whole person that said they’re not good. Everybody knows they’re good.

Sorry, that's not true. Many here and in the Tyreek thread are not giving the Fins credit. They're talking about how bad the Ravens "D" is etc...In the Tyreek thread most said Tua sucked and would not be able to get him the ball the Fins would not make the playoffs.

Red Dawg 09-19-2022 07:20 PM

Tua didn't suddenly become great. When they beat a team that we know is a real contender let me know.

Ehh alot of people said they wouldn't be a playoff team and Hill wouldn't be as good since he had Tua. It's the same shit every year on here man football talk is largely a waste of time lol

It’s called coping. The whole deal is just kind of silly people arguing about a player that isn’t even on the team anymore.

Actually 1 good game. Offense scored 13pts first game and were on almost that same pace until they exploded in the 4th. So I guess you could say 1 good qtr.

Yeah but Tyreek has looked just as good as when he was here. Remember he was productive with Smith as well. Guy is a HOF'r

Our offense scored 20pts against the Chargers.

I’d argue that’s probably the equivalent of scoring 13pts against a Belichick defense in week 1.
