also why is anyone even talking about mahomes contract. has florio not seen hurts ****ing cap hits for the next 5 years lol?

lcarus 05-02-2023 01:19 PM

When he signed that deal everyone couldn't believe it and said things like "Good luck getting any other good players when you're paying Mahomes THAT much!!"

And we all said in 2 years the deal would look like a steal for the Chiefs.

Wow who was right....

Spott 05-02-2023 01:23 PM

Never heard of him, but he can whine some more if he thinks it will help.

Watch. When they do redo his contract, idiots like Florio will pat themselves on the back for shining a light on this injustice, completely missing that was always the plan.

Oh, totally.

Noticed this in Florio replies. Pointing out that the graphic is actually bullshit to begin with, comparing Mahomes last 3 years, with these guys next 3.

Big market media types like parity and do not like seeing small market Kansas City dominating the league for an extended period of time.

I guarantee you if Mahomes played for the Giants then no one would be saying diddly.

RealSNR 05-02-2023 01:32 PM

The hilarious part is how many numbskulls chanted, “Patrick is selfish! Dude will never win another Super Bowl by being that greedy!!!” whenever the Chiefs had to cut players at the start of the offseason.

Like, little bitches everywhere were laughing at Pat and declared him deceased when Veach cut Fisher and Schwartz in the same offseason. And if those idiots didn’t learn their lessons then, they did it again when we traded Tyreek.

Now Mahomes is too unselfish and ruining the NFL by not demanding more money?

Pick a ****ing side

Great point.

Somehow Patrick has higher cap hits than other QB's who are getting more cash than him. Probably because the other teams are using the Void Year trick to artificially lower the cap hits. I feel like the Chiefs should want to tear up this deal and re-do it so their QB isn't the only one with really high cap hits while everyone else in the league is finding ways to cheat the cap.

My suspicion is that the Jalen Hurts contract is going to be the new standard structure. By the time his cap hits become a problem, the Eagles will just give him a new contract and start the cycle over. Re-do the contract every 4 years and keep kicking the can down the road until your QB is washed up in 10+ years.

Dak Prescott's deal is interesting. He has been paid $120M of cash ($40M per year) over the last 3 years with a total cap hit of only $63M ($21M per year). Somehow his cap hits are half of his actual cash flow, which is radically different from the Mahomes deal where his cash flow actually lines up very closely with the cap hits. Dallas & Philly added the void years in there to cheat the cap. And they'll keep finding ways to kick the can down the road. I bet Cincy will do the same thing with Burrow, which will allow them to keep both of his #1 quality receivers.

NFL may as well go to standard pay bullshit by position and how you are ranked if this is what the media is going to do. Brady was called a hero for taking less but shit ass Florio is calling Mahomes a guy getting abused for being too nice. As if he's some stupid dufuss that has been dupped.

Mahomes is grown ass man and I am sure he can speak for himself. If he wants more because of recent QB contracts then all he has to do is say something and Veach will work it out with him.

PHOG 05-02-2023 01:47 PM

Just look at Whorio's eyes, you can tell he's a weasel.

Why is no one talking about Deshaun Watson’s deal being criminal because he’s screwing Cleveland with his massive cap hit and poor play?

Does anyone ever ask guys like that to tear up their deal and take less because they aren’t living up to it and it’s the “right thing to do”?

Why is it never the other way?

So far the Browns have found a way to cheat the cap. They've paid him $91M in 2022 and 2023, with cap hits of only $9.4M in 2022 and $19M in 2023. The next 3 years supposedly have $64M per year of cap hits, but I won't be shocked if they find a way to keep cheating the cap. More void years added to it, which is how they managed to drop his cap hit to only $19M in 2023.

ReynardMuldrake 05-02-2023 02:02 PM

Mahomes is not "criminally underpaid." He's earning hundreds of millions of dollars. At some point, you get diminishing returns on your multi-multi-multi millions. Patrick understands this. It's clear he values winning championships over everything else and is willing to take a little discount to be competitive.

Will it be renegotiated at some point? Probably. Did it work? Yes! Would he still have two rings if he had insisted on top dollar for himself?
