Ahhhh... The 80s. No matter how bad you try to frame the Chiefs drafting, 1983 was the absolute pinnacle of stupidity.
Please, don't remind me of those times. Looking back is to invite depression, looking forward is to invite anxiety, look to the now when things are great and the Chiefs have the best QB in the league. Enjoy it because it could be over tomorrow. |

God I hated Stiles and King Carl. Arrogant little shits. |
Imagine if that happened today back to back rb in the first two rounds. This place would go nuclear

Not even sure if Veatch could survive that. Any other GM would certainly by fired on the spot, since obviously they would be totally Col. Kurtz'ing it. |

Carl was just good enough to stick and cash checks and was a douche to boot. He’d come up with a good draft when he was about to wash out more than once but never string enough together to build a sb team.
Plenty of rb talent in that draft and they whiffed on all of it Jamal Anderson Charlie Garner Dorsey Levins Bam Bam Even Errict Rhett was a better option. Almost as bad as Carl evaluating qbs. Rich Gannon in house? Nah. Mike Elkins check. Matt Blundin check. Pat Barnes. Steve Stenstrum. Check check etc. Couldn’t even ever fluke up a Gardner Menshew (sp?) type. |

Tony Banks - 8 games, threw for 1578 yards, 8 TDs/8 INTs and a QB rating of 69.3 (nice) Dilfer - 8 games, 1502 yards, 12 TDs, 11 INTs, 76.6 rating Dilfer's playoff stats that postseason... 9/14, 130, 1 TD (won 21-3) 5/16, 117 (won 24-10) 9/18, 190, 1 TD, 1 INT (won 16-3) 12/25, 153, 1 TD (won 34-7) I did enjoy those old school defensive battles when the Ravens played good offenses, like against Peyton Manning.... but damn their offense was atrocious. |
It was a different time. I recall a quote that Lamar wanted a franchise running back. Of course a quote can be used for different ends
