Yes. Awesome.

BigRedChief 08-23-2023 09:57 PM

That’s Elway level incompetence with picking QB’s.

I don't even think that was the case.

I think they wanted ol' McCorkle and did something really stupid by trading up to lock it in and changed face when everyone made fun of that possibility.

They really ****ed that decision up.

that trade up has to be one of the biggest **** ups in NFL history. And they are still a contender which makes the **** up even worse because drafting quality players with all of those 1st round picks they gave up probably could have put them over the hump in the playoffs.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-23-2023 10:29 PM

Being a contender makes these epic **** ups even WORSE because it's preventing them from getting over the hump.

I’m all for this. He’s only 23.

I am glad that my favorite football team is the Kansas City Chiefs and we are past the days when we would be glad to get a San Francisco 49ers re-tread QB.

Hell no. Carl wouldn’t even use one first round pick on a QB. Let alone 3.

Nah Lance is to young and unproven, Carl would have been all in on Kirk Cousins.

If Lance were actually really good instead of really bad and the 49ers were actually sticking with him, Carl would be all in on Brock Purdy.

But not before he would have tried to snag a deal for Jimmy G

Theres at least one 49er beat writer that claims what you say be true at least as far as Shanahan goes. That Shanahan was all in on McCorkle and someone else within the org made the push for Lance before the draft. Either way still a horrendous decision as McCorkle would have at least been serviceable but would have never lived up to the compensation given up.

I am genuinely interested to see how much a team will give up for a guy who lost out to Mr. Irrelevant and a failed journeyman former Top 5 pick.
