Another point that should be said every time. We can't learn shit from Thursday games. They suck. Invariably.

I keep getting this nagging / hopeful feeling that Andy is holding back on offense in order to not 'tip his hand' to teams like Miami, Philly or Buffalo.
|
I thought both sides played well; the Broncos were clearly motivated to end the streak. The DL gave our OL some troubles and they were content to drop 7 in zone and keep things in front of them. While I can understand the trick plays and wanting to keep the game 'fun', sometimes, I believe, you just need to line up and play football.
It appears that our WRs have trouble getting open; unfortunately, the TV broadcast doesn't show the downfield view and I'm disappointed in the Amazon coverage. No report on the injury or replays of penalties. Chiefs 19 Zebras 8 |
Thursday night games are always gross. Neither team has any time to game plan. Usually at least one team comes out flat. Chiefs were that team. They looked discombobulated. Reid is like one stubborn SOB and keeps trotting out that cocky horses ass Skyye Moore over Rice -- whose a killer -- and calling moronic complicated high school trick plays on 3rd and one. It's infuriating. But that defense is more than capable and won the game and I was wrong about Harrison Butker. He could have made a 68 yard field goal last night and I'm glad the team didn't impulsively bench or try out other kickers last year. He'll be needed.

The Chiefs are still a Top 5 team and the Defense has improved. But the offense just isn’t getting it done right now at a normal KC level, and this offense won’t beat the Niners or Eagles or Dolphins. Only one consistent difference maker at the skill positions. Will be interesting to see if/how they get that “fixed”.

Yung Joka looked selfish on that read option. The edge guy is looking right at him and standing still and Yung Joka kept the ball. I suppose he wants to make a splash on his limited snaps, but that was selfish.
That play and the fake FG and Jawaan Taylor letting a free runner inside on a zero blitz to block nobody in particular were the WTF plays last night, but no worries. |
The Chiefs moved the ball up and down the field and only really stalled in the red zone with trickery bullshit "razzle dazzle" plays.
Not sure where "the Chiefs came out flat" is coming from. That said, the Chiefs Oline got their shit pushed in during the Vikings game and it's possible Andy just doesn't believe they can get the job done on 3rd and short handing the ball off to Pacheco. I'd still rather have Mahomes with the ball in hand than having Toney throw the ball, or have Noah Gray taking snaps. |

Chiefs play Broncos again in two weeks. If Chiefs had a fourth down short yardage in a crucial time in a crucial game, they will run their best plays for that situation. |
The most WTF moment of the game was when Mahomes took off on a third down play and was approaching the line to gain and 27 of the Broncos decided to run to McKinnon instead of tackling Mahomes. McKinnon was a couple yards to the side of Mahomes at that point, not in front.
The second most WTF moment of last night was all the people on Reddit claiming 27 did it because he was afraid of getting a "touching the Mahomes" penalty. I can't even tell you the last time Mahomes drew a roughing the passer penalty. Maybe they are referring to the Bengals game where they hit him way out of bounds? |
