I've worn nothing but Asics for the last 20 years. I've loved my Asics shoes, and would have never considered changing.

But my wife started working one shift a week at a shoe store - mainly so that she and my daughter can get the employee discount (50%) on shoes.

At that price, considering all that I had heard about them, I figured I'd give Hokas a try, and picked up a pair of Cliftons-9s. Little did I know that my life was about to change. As I reflect upon my life now, I can't help but see it in terms of B.H. and A.H.

I think most of us get to a certain age, and we become almost impossible to impress. But I was definitely impressed by these shoes. With the combination of the weird arch and the almost shocking lack of weight the shoes have, I would go as far as to say I was blown away by them. Within about a week of owning them, I was all, "Asics who?"

The photo below is the color I got for my first pair. If you're trying to decide on a color, I believe it's hard to go wrong with blue and orange. (That being said, I have my eyes on an orange and blue pair that I find to be quite appealing.)

They are different. I have some on clouds too but they are more of a casual wearing around shoe.

I broke my big toe in high school. Now, 40 years later, I have some arthritis in that toe which can make walking distances pretty uncomfortable. Hokas make long treks really comfortable. I highly recommend them if you have any foot issues at all.

I was a bit of a fatass before I went to school, bought HOKAs when I was training up for it because they were very comfortable. Got in good shape. Graduated, bought cheap sneakers, and got fat again. Coincidence?

Working out at Orange Theory, the coaches recommended these. I went to the store to try them on, but they didn't feel like a shoe I'd want to run in. I wound up with Saucony and then this year I went with the Brooks. The Brooks were the best hands down. All 3 are pricey, so it's a once a year thing for me.

I'm not ruling out the Hoka, just so far they were not the best fit for me. But a shit ton of people at the gym wear them and love them.

I'll vouch for the On. It's what I ultimately bought after I tried on Hokas and I love them. About the same price. Everyone's feet and gate are different so it really comes down to seeing what's best for you which is why I never buy shoes online when looking for comfort unless it's something I'm already familiar with.

Those Chiefs Nike air Pegasus someone posted earlier are good too. I had a pair of the previous model I got on clearance that I bought simply because of the Chiefs theme but they turned into my go to for a while until my kid started borrowing them for track training and grossed them up.
