I never for a moment thought this would be his last year. He's still quite productive.

Listen I understand we are building this thing for the long haul but can we PLEASE get aggressive in the short-term and put a couple elite playmakers next to Kelce and Rice. Reid and Kelce deserve a top tier offense to wrap up their HOF careers.

Brady went 10 years without winning a SB. Lets go get Pat #3 and #4 here and accept the fact we may have a year to rebuild and right the cap afterward.

You think of a guy like Antonio Gates who played for 16 years and was still productive in his mid to late 30s, particularly in the red zone.

It may be a case that as Kelce feels Father Time approaching eventually he changes the way he plays.

But a lot of what makes him so good is his rapport with Mahomes and his ability to read and react to the defense, and those intangibles aren't going away.

Now all we need is Andy to say the same, win the SB, and watch everybody cry.

The tears if we won this year would be OUTRAGEOUS.

The 1st SB was emotional for reasons I don't need to explain to any of you.

The 2nd was awesome because of the doubt and hate. That would be even more so this year.

This could probably go in a dozen different threads, but this doesn't exactly seem like someone who is nearing the end.

He's on this football high right now.

I could see us winning. Kelce secures a no doubt "dynasty". Spends the spring on a private jet flying around the world with his GF. He starts to think....do I need to **** with LB's and safety's trying to take my head off or just start my post football life now?

This is how a loser thinks.

Kelce is due 28 million dollars over the next 2 years...he is not retiring.

He can make more than that in media.

I'm not saying he will or should retire. Players get relaxed off the season and decide to call it quits after a great career.

That works. Get hopefully 90% of him at least next year, draft a tight end, and then have him learn from Travis for his final season.

At a minimum he’s here for a shot at the 3peat.

RunKC 01-30-2024 12:23 PM

Kelce made over $25 million this year. $12 million in cash from us, $20 million from Pfizer. Doesn't even count Bud Light, Campbells chunky soup, State Farm, DirecTV or his podcast

If the Chiefs win this year, they're in a position to do what no other team has ever done and win 3 consecutive Super Bowls. I think Kelce would love to be a part of that. I would think Bart Vitch would be using that bait to work a lot of contracts.

Yeah, that would be too tempting for him to give up.

Mecca 01-30-2024 12:30 PM

Also because of Taylor Swift he's in a better position to make money outside of football which means it benefits him to keep playing for sponsor deals.

He has no reason to walk away unless he's literally marrying Taylor Swift.
