again, it makes total sense:
The rule is absolutely correct and should never be changed. Between the Goal lines is nuetral territory. So if you fumble out of bounds there, you should get it back. End Zones are the opponents territory, you have to enter their territory with the ball to score points. If it is fumbled before crossing the endzone into their territory, then out of bounds, it is their ball as it was in their territory. I absolutely love this rule, even if it would have cost us tonight, because it is exactly the point of the game and defending your end of the field.
