This is why you played Mahomes against the Texans. Now the whole team can rest. Perfect timing for a guy like Chris Jones.

The rest vs rust argument is an argument you could make for a team like the Lions. That group has been in one playoff. They don't know the rhythm of a playoff bye week together.
This Chiefs team knows how to navigate it. And anyone new to the team/situation (Perine, Worthy, Hollywood, Humphries) can learn a lot from most of the roster being through it. They'll be fine resting guys. |
Until the last few weeks you can argue that the best the team has looked was week 1 against Baltimore.
|
The next few weeks, our detractors will only be able to use this nonsense rust argument to try and tear the Chiefs down
But just wait for if it is the Chargers (somewhat likely perhaps), or Denver (much less likely) who come to Arrowhead in the divisional. There will be people all over the landscape picking those teams as a trendy upset due to being division rivals who've seen KC twice. That would be foolish though, bc the rest is going to show up big time in terms of speed on the field, AND, only the Texans and Steelers have played this new-look Chiefs team since inserting Thuney at LT and Hollywood at WR. Anything before that is pretty irrelevant, IMHO. |
Andy practices hard. He doesn’t let up. There’s a cool story about how in camp Andy will run long sessions of 20+plays at a time in pads in St Joseph to work these guys into game shape.
He’ll give them next week off with unpadded light walk through but I guarantee Andy is gonna have these guys in pads one day before the divisional week to keep them moving and hitting. |

Play them for a half. Have them prep all week to keep them engaged. 26 days is a long f'n time.

How many players can we elevate from the practice squad without having to cut anybody? How's that work under the current rules?
Google says two. We need a 3rd string QB and what else? |

This team knows how to avoid rust. This is exactly what the team played for, they earned it. |

They'll be ready. This first game won't be close.... |
