I would only resign Thuney if I planned to keep him at tackle.

Dude is 32 so he might have one or two seasons left which would hopefully be enough time to get Suamataia up to speed.

I just wouldn't pay guards big money which is painful to say because I absolutely love watching Trey Smith pancake dudes. But you can't keep everybody in the salary cap era and it is too easy to replace guards.

all i know is i somehow want us to get jeanty

Too much concern that Patrick Mahomes is not going into 2025 as the starting Quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. To worry about that

Dunerdr 12-31-2024 02:01 PM

I’m not even considering moving forward with Thuney as a tackle.

How much are Brown and Hopkins likely to get paid?

OKchiefs 12-31-2024 02:15 PM

One question is what do they do about the cap? Only have around $20 million now in cap room. Mahomes is set to count around $65-68 million against the cap the next 3 years. I assume they’ll restructure him yet again and continue to kick the can down the road a bit?

If you pay him to play guard, it appears he would make a better than average backup LT...

I'll arrange better security for the Super Bowl victory parade.

Megatron96 12-31-2024 02:42 PM

I think I'd let JWat go and keep Mecole. Re-sign Hollywood and DHop for sure. I don't think we can pay JR or Trey.

BossChief 12-31-2024 02:52 PM

The guys that provided instant impact when they got on the field…

Omenihu - instantly transformed the pass rush.
Thuney (when shifted to LT)
Hollywood chemistry with Pat is huge
Hopkins perfect possession WR vet to help mold a young WR corps, going forward.
Hardman (gadget/returner)
Hunt may only have one year left, but we don’t get the 1 seed without him.
Bolton - this is the one I could see us losing if another team swoops in and pulls a CJ Mosley. If he wants to stay, he will be here, but that’s a $ decision. KC won’t be the top bidder.

I think if you can keep those guys (Thuney getting an extension to lower immediate cap hit) and have a solid draft, we will be in great shape for the 4peat. That should be realistic with a Thuney extension and a PM restructure.

Guesssing both are looking to have a few good playoff games to help with their market value.

Couch-Potato 12-31-2024 09:38 PM

I’d like to find a way to keep our WRs together: Rice, Hopkins, Worthy, Brown, & Watson.

High talent, low cost.

Basileus777 12-31-2024 09:50 PM

I don't think we can assume Hollywood will cheap. If he has a decent postseason he may have a market.

He was what 8m this season. I do t think his price tag goes up basically missing the entire season. I’d try it again, but no more than that. And I’m drafting a mid round WR
