Fine, but he is situational role player, not an starter or meaningful minutes player...

Believe me, I love the kid and his hustle, but his place is coming off the bench for 5-8 min a game....

Exactly. That's all I've been saying. Kid isn't "starting for KU" quality.

Understood.

Still, you guys know even if you did happen to suck this season... (What's "suck" for you, 3rd or 4th in the Big XII?)

It's a bit amusing when you're a fan of a rival team who's just hoping to become a bit of a threat again.

True... I guess we were just spoiled by the last 3 years.... Again this is a muligan year for KU... I can see them better by the end of the Big 12 conference play...

Maybe a 4-6 seed and a second round loss? Maybe if they progress like Selfs teams do, it could be a sweet 16 at best...

Not alot of experimenting he can do; with Little hurt and freshmen all over the place he has not choice to coach with a baptism by fire attitude. What hurts is there is no real leadership on the team. Collins isn't it; yet. And Aldrich is no where experienced enough for it.

I am just stumped that Q Thomas or Releford cant seem to log meaninful minutes over Reed and Morningstar?

True... This Little injury is hurting us more than we actually realize... I guess what I mean by experimenting is.. Mixing the line ups with Thomas, Releford and Appleton...

But Self is about Defense and if you fail at D, you dont play..

I would suspect it is a practice issue and Bill rewarding good practice habits over talent. He did the same thing his first year and a half when he played Moody relentlessly.

So 2 fouls out of how many?

Quote:

Don't give me the shit about playing with energy being the reason you get the calls. It is lazy officiating and presuming a foul and not SEEING a foul. Too many refs blow the friggin whistle before a play even happens anticipating contact; perfect example was the Taylor foul.
You are letting your bias blind you here. As much as I'd like to blame the refs, they weren't the reason KU had so many. Arizona played very well and was able to draw them.

No sweat.

The MU/KU games could be fun this season. That's not all I ask for... but it helps. :)

Ceej 12-23-2008 11:49 PM

The best news that came from this game is the simple fact that Sherron and Cole should come back for one more year.

Well, earlier in the season, I hadn't watched much of the KU basketball team. From few games or parts of games that I had seen, I thought you guys were just being overly critical. After seeing a few games, I now understand.

As for Releford: Kid does have some talent. He is a scorer. However, he still has a tendency to not block out on the rebound.

That they should be, I am ready for conference play... We get the freaking kitties at home first... I cant wait...

Will be interesting to see, there is still alot of basketball left to play....

Ceej 12-23-2008 11:51 PM

I understand there is plenty of ball to play.

But, with those two returning (being totally hypothetical) and the guys we have and/or could have coming in next year - WATCH OUT BABY!

No those were 2 examples...

my bias has nothing to do with other than I am biased against shitty officiating. The only reason there should ever be a foul disparity like tonight is when you have a HUGE talent gap between the teams, wasn't the case tonight. And I will take my cue from Bill; if it is bad enough for him to confront the ref face to face about it it must have been worse then even we saw it.

I can't even get into college basketball until the conference schedule starts.

Its was easier last year than this year.. For some reason I am detached to these players... Not sure why yet... I am very excited about next year and the that team...

I don't see a 5'10 SG having that much of a future in the NBA. As for Aldrich, well he could still easily be a lottery pick in this year's draft. This game changes nothing in that regard.

Plus I have heard that if he is lottery, then he is gonzo... His family isnt very finanically sound and lottery will help tremendously...

I don't fault anybody for making that decision. It's a lot of money to pass up if you stay.

Dude, if Sherron Collins goes in the lottery of next years draft I'll give you $100 out of my pocket and all my casino cash. No freaking way. He's a midget. Johnny Flynn is better than Sherron Collins, and there are many other PG's better than Collins. It's just the way it is. He has flaws in his game, but he's still a good player. I get sick of him shooting 33% in his last five games though.

Okay, you have valid points, but we were talking about Cole Aldrich, not Sherron Collins...

So can I have my 100$ now?

Save for a couple games, Releford has not impressed me. While he sometimes can find easy buckets, for the most part he looks lost out there. At times the Morris twins just look terrible, but they are very raw and have their bright spots as well. One thing you have to wonder, is the people that raved that Marcus Morris was a good shooter and could step out and hit the outside shot and even threes. What a joke. Neither Morris twin can hit the broad side of the barn. I have more faith in Aldrich from 20 feet.

Tyrel Reed has really disappointed me so far. He's clanging everything, and he doesn't ever dribble penetrate.

Hmmm...I hadn't heard that about Cole's family. I assumed you were talking about Collins family living in the projects of Chicago. Cole is from Bloomington, MN...how poor could they be.

Right. Collins is much more likely to have a career in Europe than in the NBA.

Saulbadguy 12-24-2008 06:34 AM

Big XII didn't do so hot last night.

My guess would be Taylor, albeit he's much shorter. But, he's long. The Morris' brothers are too slow to guard him. And please God - don't allow Brady Morningstar to try and guard him.

PUT IN RELEFORD!

you're an idiot

Morningstar held christmas to 3 pts in first half and held Budinger scoreless for 30 minutes this game.
