The Bengals should play to beat the Jets unless they think the Jets are an easier opponent than whoever gets in if the Jets lose.

If I was coaching I would kill a team when I could, because you would feel pretty bad if you let a team beat you in week 17 and then that team beats you in the playoff.

The Jets-Cincy game is different from the Cards-Packers. The Cards and Packers may go into the game knowing that the have a rematch in the wildcard no matter what happens.

The Bengals might go into the game knowing that the only way a rematch in the wildcard happens is if they lose.

IMO the Bengals think they can beat the Jets with their starters and will throw out their scrubs to get the chance to beat them with their rested starters in the wild card.

Look at the late-season AFCW records.... the last 6 games are:

6-0 Sandy Eggo
3-3 Raiders
2-4 Broncos
1-5 Chiefs

Lately the Broncos have sucked just as bad as KC & Oakland. Right down in the slime of the gutter with the Chiefs & Raiders. Slopping around in the basement with the worst teams in the league. Yeah... they're done...

I think the Colts ****ed everything up by letting the Jets win yesterday.

Quote:

There are so many ways to measure how crazy the AFC wild card playoff picture is heading into the final week and how dangerous it is to assume anything. Consider:

1. There could still be an eight-way tie at 8-8.
2. The Jaguars, even after their loss Sunday, are technically still alive for the fifth seed. The Dolphins also remain barely alive at 7-8.
3. Only one of eight AFC wild card contenders were eliminated this week: the Titans.

While there are a lot of confusing scenarios, we know this much: the Ravens and Jets are both in the playoffs with victories in Week Seventeen.

The Broncos are in the best position after that. If Denver beats Kansas City at home, the Broncos just need two other things to happen.

The Broncos need the Ravens or Jets to lose, and need to not finish in a two-way tie with the Steelers for the final spot; Pittsburgh beat them head-to-head. If it's a three or four way tie, Denver's superior conference record would take over.

The Broncos, then, are in the odd position of wanting the 8-7 Texans to win because Houston could negate Pittsburgh's advantage over Denver in a head-to-head tiebreaker.

Got all that?

So basically, we need the Jets and Ravens to win next week. But in all likelihood, the Jets will lose, so in that case we need the Steelers to win and the Texans to lose to the Patriots.

Not really... Denver now needs help with a win. PIT winning already created 1 issue, but the Jets weren't really a factor until they won yesterday and Miami lost.

But the less 8-7 teams the better, because then the head to head record between the Broncos and Pittsburgh goes into affect. So with the Jets losing, the 8-7 teams would have been Pittsburgh, Broncos, and Texans.

All I have to do is look at Washington and Oakland... I fully expect Denver to beat KC, hell they could have won yesterday. But, this team is a mystery from week to week.

Nice progress from 2008 with all the changes, solid foundation to work on going forward... but, we'll see.

Yeah they should pound the Chiefs like a few weeks ago,but anything (like choking against Oakland) can happen when its game time.Either way we leave the game a terrible team in the early process of rebuilding. The Donks leave praying to god that they can by some miracle back into the playoffs.

The Broncos make the playoffs if ...

The NFL's Week 16 turned the AFC playoff picture into a baffling maze of what-if scenarios with one week remaining in the season. But what does it all mean for the Broncos?

The simplest formula for the Broncos to earn an AFC wild-card playoff spot starts with them beating Kansas City at home on Sunday. Then, if the Houston Texans win and either the New York Jets or the Baltimore Ravens lose, the Broncos would be in.

Here are all the scenarios that would land Denver a playoff spot:

• A Broncos win and a Jets loss or tie plus a Ravens loss or tie.

• A Broncos win and a Jets loss or tie plus a Steelers loss or tie.

• A Broncos win plus a Jets loss or tie plus a Texans win.

• A Broncos win plus a Ravens loss or tie plus Steelers loss or tie.

• A Broncos win plus a Ravens loss or tie plus a Texans win.

• If the Steelers, Ravens, Texans and Jaguars all lose.

• If the Steelers, Ravens, Texans and Jets all lose.

• If the Steelers, Ravens, Jaguars and Jets all lose.

• If the Steelers, Texans, Jaguars and Jets all lose.

• A Dolphins loss or tie plus losses by the Jets, Ravens and Texans, plus a Jaguars loss or tie.

I find KnowMo's recent absence from the forum to be striking. This is another example of why he's incredibly douchy compared to our other Bronco fans. If you're going to be a rival fan and talk smack on the board, that's fine and dandy. However, don't go hiding when your team's fortunes turn.

Even 2-time SB champion Neil Smiff?

So basically we need 2 of the 3 of these to win, Steelers, Ravens, and Jets and the donks are out of the playoff's.

Mostly anyway. If they end up with a multi-way tie, though, they'd win over the Steelers since the head-to-head tiebreaker wouldn't apply. For example, if we have:

Jets L
Steelers W
Broncos W
Ravens W
Texans W

Denver and the Ravens make it in.
