Lew has a ton of problems but something tells me K State would have put up with him for less than 10 years if it meant winning a BCS Bowl and a National Championship.

Kinda amazing for a state that has to share another BCS program with less than 3 million people.

A new AD will be taking over next year and usually when that happens they like to bring in their own football coach.

I already get the sense from many KU fans that they didn't like the hire from the beginning and they could easy abandon the guy. Even some KU fans on this board and the KU boards are already saying it.

Do you think that they will hire Urban Meyer or Nick Saban to become the third coach in three years after the last two were unceremoniously fired? KU will really be working from a position of strength. Don't be surprised if they don't know that you have a good basketball team, though. You see, schools with good football teams don't really give a shit about basketball.

That's just not true. Sorry to break it to you.

But yes, schools that have won both the basketball national title and a football BCS game are very rare.

Schools that have won both titles obviously even more rare. I can think of only Florida. Maybe Michigan but their title was taken away.

Maybe UCLA did it? Something interesting to research.

College basketball coaching salaries:

John Calipari $4 million a year

Billy Donovan $3.3 million a year

Bill Self $3 million a year

Thad Matta $2.5 million a year

Rick Pitino $2.25 million a year

Those don't strike me as numbers as something schools don't care about

Just because you are not a fan of a sport your school isn't good at doesn't mean one can't care about both. I understand lots of people around here don't care about BBall. I just wouldn't know what to do between the months of December and April if I was one of them.

Most KU fans never expected to have a powerhouse football program. But we can expect to have a decent program that makes bowls most years and challenges for a BCS bowl every once in awhile. There is absolutely no reason why that can't happen.

That being said, it may require a coaching change. I have said all along that I was cautiously optimistic.I really didn't know what Gill could do. After that shit performance on Saturday, I am much, much less optimistic. Its still early, but that was about the worst possible start.

You say you think KU's going to do good. When they completely bomb they're first game, people are going to throw your words in your face. You're just going to have to get used to it. The Yankees and the Red Sox have a rivalry that is built on mutual respect for the opponent. I think the same exists for rivalries like OSU-Michigan, Tex-OK, etc..

There's something different around the KC metro area regarding KU. It's more of a deep rooted hate one side has for the other. It's sociologically very interesting.

I don't think it's really all that different. It's a rivalry. I don't think Sox fans hate the Yankees any less than Missouri fans hate KU fans, and I don't think tehre's any more or less respect involved. OU fans hate UT just as much as Mizzou hates KU. I don't know why you're suprised that Missouri fans or K State fans crack on KU on the radio or message boards. First of all, it's probably funny for them to see KU fans get so emotional about it, like kicking over an anthill. Secondly, it's not like KU fans don't call in shows or post on message boards talking junk. You make it seem like KU fans are just sitting there minding their own business, just waving little KU flags and saying, "Let's go! May the best team win!" It's a two way street.

Not sure how you "back into something" when you're 11-1.

Besides, had KU lost that game you would have a point. But they didn't. And it went down as the greatest moment in KU Football history.

No, it wasn't sarcasm. But it's going to be difficult for MU after moving to playing Tex and OK every year, as it will for KU.

G'night. We'll argue again another time.
