I bet he picks Aldon Smith.
To the surprise of no one. |
Kerrigan will be the pick.
|
If Hamas picks Kerrigan.....then I full expect OTW58 to take Aldon Smith right after him.
|
This isn't a hard pick at all. The player matches the needs. Jermaine Cunningham is the heir-apparent at LOLB, and this guy can man the main pass rushing position, while also remaining versatile enough to rush as a RDE in nickel situations, or functioning as a Hali-esque standup defensive end.
The New England Patriots select Aldon Smith, ROLB/RDE, Missouri |

Dammit. Saw it coming.
If given the opportunity, I would have been trying desperately to trade up in front of the Pats. Being #1 defensively with Shaun Phillips and hot garbage/career backups/upcoming FA's at the other 3 LB spots is pretty impressive, and while we would have liked to add Smith to the LB corp, we're happy to fill the position with our 1a choice. The Chargers select: Ryan Kerrigan, OLB, Purdue |
You both ****ing suck.
|
In reality, I believe the Pats would go Kerrigan over Smith every single time. Not saying they'd be right, but I believe he fits their philosophy a bit more.

Then again, the Chiefs wouldn't have picked Dirty Sanchez #3 overall 20 minutes after trading a 2nd for Cassel. Hamas only has a tenuous grip of reality when he's playing GM. |

Smith isn't a poor pick by any means; he's higher upside but higher risk. I simply don't think the Pats are interested in the latter, when a "similar" player with great intangibles is available. |

Don't passive voice my brilliance. |
I think the Giants go with Castonzo or Sherrod with the current board.
I wouldn't put Pouncey past them, though. Or Martez Wilson I guess. |
I'm betting Tim Barnes goes in the 1st ROFL

The Bears have so many holes, it's really amazing they made it as far as they did this year.

I will openly discuss this since none of the teams infront of me need a QB. Do you think Carrol would go for a guy like Ponder? Hasselback has a year left and they paid for Whitehurst but he ****ing sucks.
|
Quote:
That said, I still don't think that Ponder is a first-rounder, though I think he's a very intriguing prospect and someone whom I'd love to see the Chiefs draft in the second. |
Quote:
I agree with you though I'd love to see the Chiefs grab Ponder in round 2 but he won't be there when we pick. I hope that lay down game in San Diego opened his eyes about drafting and grooming a QB because Croyle showed not only did he suck but he has no leadership whatsoever. |
I actually think if the draft fell close to this, we'd see a sharp increase in the chances Ponder goes in the first.
The general thinking is that Gabbert and Newton are the top tier, and that there are scores of second-tier QBs that will make the picking pretty good in rounds 2 and 3. But if there's a slightest hint that that well of second-tier QBs is drying up faster than expected (such as the Vikes going with Locker #12 overall), I fully suspect there'd be a run on QBs in the 1st and 2nd round. Keapernick, Ponder, Mallett, and perhaps even Dalton would benefit from this directly, as teams pay top dollar for promising prospects with upside. The Seahawks could probably ride Hasselbeck for another year so long as they get him another weapon, if they had to. The question goes to you as the GM: how badly do you think the Seahawks need a QB? If it's that desperately bad, do you think you can get the guy you want in 2 or 3? If you think the talent is going to run dry, do it now while you can. Just understand that your job would be on the line if you were truly the Seahawks GM. |
Quote:
Shawn Phillips is also from Purdue, so he might take this guy under his wing if we take him. |
Quote:
You have Phillips and 3 guys that are all FA's after this year, IIRC. Just happened that value met need in this case. |

The Giants are in need of OT. Their primary target, Tyron Smith, was snatched up by Detroit. They get their #2 choice, an up and comer who had glowing reviews from the Combine and Senior Bowl.
The New York Giants select OT Nate Solder, Colorado. |

What the ****in' ****.
|
I could be a dick and make my pick right now......but I won't.
And seriously....how hard is it for people to check the OP and see who was taken? It's not like were 6 rounds into this thing. FFS. |
Hamas has already brought it up in the other mock draft.....but give the Rams to Rams_Fan.
I think we should let him switch his pick from Solder to whomever he wants (someone who hasn't been picked yet).....and give Solder to the Giants. |
Quote:

Hopefully this Mongolian Cluster**** has been fixed
1) BigChiefFan dropped out. Why, I don't know. Whatever 2) Rams Fan has inherited his spot, and it will remain his until he decides to quit the mock 3) The Solder abortion was de-vacuumed and since Rams Fan loves Liuget, I've assigned Liuget to the Rams and Solder will stay with the Giants Let's get this shit on the road. |
Welcome Rams Fan! Thank you for fixing things up best you can, Hamas. I second, lets get this shit on the road!
|
I imagined up the second half of that post......Hamas asked Rams Fan if he wanted the Rams and the Colts.

With the 20th pick in the 2011 CP Mock Draft....the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select:
Justin Houston, DE, University of Georgia Contrary to what some analysts think.....Houston isn't a 3-4 OLB. This kid is the perfect blend of size and speed for a 4-3 DE.....something the Bucs need desperately. They drafted their DTs in last years draft.....and now they add that edge rusher to bring the pressure. |
And here comes the Ayers pick...
|
PM Sent to Scott Pioli.

LMAO |
IMO, Taylor has to be the pick, considering who's on the board.
|
I'd take Ayers over Taylor here, but this is damned near a worst-case scenario.

I would probably go o-line here.

Damn this place went apeshit after that Solder pick. Good to see this mock is back on the saddle.

taylor or o line for the chiefs here. too much depth at wr to pick one now..

So who would everybody go with if you were Scott Pioli?
I think this mock, minus my highway robbery of Nick Fairley, is fairly realistic. I think I'd go with Phil Taylor. |
Quote:
1. He doesn't know the first thing about his assigned team. 2. He hasn't been keeping up with any Draft news at all, considering he couldn't fathom Julio Jones going top 10. 3. He didn't even inspect the OP before posting. 4. Cried like a bitch when his horrendous pick was horrendous. I mean, I hate to kick a man when he's down, but we could have had chiefscafan in this thing. |

Might I add that we could call Taylor the trailor from Baylor?
|
I would go Taylor. Pioli loves himself some d-linemen, we all know that. The Chiefs biggest needs are C, NT and WR. Getting Big Phil here allows the Chiefs to fill those other areas of need in the next couple of rounds. Could they get a NT later? Sure. However, at this particular juncture value meets need in a good way for the Chiefs. Too early to take the best C or WR left on the board, IMO.
|
Castonzo, Baldwin, Hankerson or Carimi.
|
After having seemingly no interest in Cody last year, I doubt Taylor is even on our radar.
|
Carimi (with the right to change my mind). But, currently, this is whom I'd probably select. Tough situation.
|
You guys are some reachy mother****ers.
|
I blame Pioli.

And the irony of claiming that we're reaching when the "answer" is an underperforming NT from that piece of shit Baylor program is palpable humor. |

To me, this would be the perfect spot to trade down to #40 with the Cowboys for thier 1st round pick next year. Cowboys could then get someone like J.J. Watt to fill out their defense.
We would have an extra 1st rounder next season, and be able to fill positions of need this season without reaching. |
Quote:
|
Well here is the pick you guys have been waiting for. Its a no brainer and I win the draft and get to replace that ****ing piece of shit Vrabel at the same time. Now if we only had Sanchez as well oh.
Kansas City Chiefs select Akeem Ayers, OLB, UCLA. Indianapolis with Rams Fan, our newest addition to the club, up. |

Just give us Justin Houston in the real draft dammit. |
For me it came down to 3 players.
Ayers Taylor Carimi I like the depth at NT this year, same with RT. OLB gets pretty weak especially with the run on them in this draft already. |
It's hard to argue with the pick.
It's also hard to feel excited by it. You just kinda have to shrug at it and hope it pans out. The fact that Houston wasn't even available at the pick lessens the sting. |
Quote:
But how deep, exactly, is this draft at nose? Fua is not the best nose prospect. Powe is a Pioli guy, but has underwhelmed all offseason. |
For the record, this is a pretty skinny draft. Who left really, truly warrants a first?
Watt. Castonzo. Pouncey. Sherrod. Taylor, probably. Wilkerson, probably. Baldwin, probably. Clayborn, maybe. Carimi, maybe. Brandon Harris or Jimmy Smith, maybe. Ingram, hardly. Torrey Smith, hardly. |
Clayborn is a beast we just don't need another D-end.
|
this draft makes aids want aids
|
You also forgot Hayward from OSU who's also a beast.
