Tough break.
|
Too bad. Congrats VCU.
|
As a WSU grad it hurts me to say this, but I never want to hear any Missouri Valley school complain about not getting the respect they deserve again. The Shox looked scared and played like the stage was too big for them. Congrats VCU, wish Smart coached WSU.

VCU kills Kansas teams.
|
I think VCU watched the Ill St. game and found our weak spot. We've got to learn how to deal with a very physical and intense competitor without running scared over pressure. What makes this hard
is all the positive press and attention we received in the later part of the season and running up to the tourney. I was afraid we had hit a wall in St. Louis. Good season, exciting ride...sorry its over so soon. |
You all still had a great season. So congrats.
I sure was hoping Shockers & Jays could both make it to the second round. |
welp that sucks big time. I officialy hate VCU and we get to play them at their place next year. That 1st half killed us, dont know what our problem was. Now lets hope Marshall stays, if he does I will feel alot better.

WSU had a great season....
Didnt end they way they wanted but it only does for one team... Congrats Shockers.... |

Sorry, shockers. I was pulling for you. Always a letdown to see a great season end prematurely. |

http://www.goshockers.com/ViewArticl...trpcEg.twitter Gregg Marshall Staying at Wichita State Courtesy:Wichita State Release:03/24/2012 WICHITA, Kan. —Gregg Marshall announced he will remain Wichita State’s men’s basketball coach. “Wichita State is a special place, with great resources, from facilities to academics to people," Marshall said. "My family and I feel this is a great place for us. I appreciate my staff and players who have achieved at a high level, and look forward to continued success. “I appreciate the support of Wichita State University President Dr. Donald Beggs, as well as Athletic Director Dr. Eric Sexton and his staff, for their continued commitment to the program. The people at the University and in the Wichita community make this a great place to live, work and win." In 2012, Marshall coached the Shockers to a 27-6 record, the MVC regular-season title, the NCAA Tournament and a high of No. 14 in the top 25 polls. In 2011, he coached the Shockers to a school-record 29 wins, including five-straight wins and the NIT Title in New York City to end the season. Marshall has also had the Shockers in postseason play the last four seasons with the CBI in 2009, the NIT in 2010 and 2011, and the NCAA Tournament in 2012. "I am pleased to say that Gregg Marshall will continue to be the head coach at Wichita State," Sexton said. We especially celebrate the last two seasons, which have included the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, the 2011 NIT Championship, the 2012 NCAA Tournament appearance, and the Top 25 rankings." I'm confused! :(, I thought their basketball team was cut during the Reagan years, hmm. :ponder:

Great news about Marshall.
The fans and City deserve this kind of success. Hopefully he can land some top 50 recruits soon. |
Now, if only Sexton could get rid of Stephenson.

It's been kind of a ho hum baseball season so far, but the golf team has been kicking butt.
Loved this article this morning. LINCOLN, Neb. - Johnny Coy went 5-for-5 to lead Wichita State to a 13-2 win over Nebraska. Coy drove in five runs with a home run and a double. Micah Green went 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Josh Halbert went 3-for-5, Erik Harbutz went 2-for-5 with two RBI and Tyler Baker went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Starter Tobin Mateychick earned the win. He went two innings and gave up one run on one hit. Johnny Coy's ninth home run of the season gave the Shocks an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. WSU increased the lead with four runs in the third. Josh Halbert led off with a single and after a single from Erik Harbutz and sacrifice bunt by Dayne Parker, Coy singled with two outs to drive in Halbert and Harbutz. Casey Gillaspie then singled and Micah Green doubled to drive them both in and put the Shocks in front 6-0. The Huskers got on the board with a run in the third, but Harbutz hit his first home run of the season in the fourth to give WSU a 7-1 lead. NU added a run in the sixth, but a double from Green in the seventh drove in another run for an 8-2 Shocker lead. WSU opened it up with four more runs in the eighth. Tyler Baker hit his first career home run and then Lambert was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in another run. Coy's fifth hit of the game, a double to right centerfield scored the third run and the last run of the inning scored on a passed ball to put WSU in front 12-2. Harbutz's sac fly in the ninth finished the scoring for WSU.
