I don't think he should go back to Omaha. He's just trying to do way too much. He looks like he's going for the homer on every swing. It seems like when the hitters get rolling, it's fairly contagious, though very sporadic. The problem is that it's always when it's a scoring contest.

To put things kindly, the Royals are wildly inconsistent with pitching and hitting. You can't win when both aren't going good. I think I'm more worried about the hitting right now.

WHen they hit, the pitching is crap, when the pitching is solid, they cant hit. There is talent here, but they dont appear to have a clue about how to win ballgames.....sigh.

Do some research fuqtard. Pitching staff has 7 quality starts in 11 games. We got owned by C but the last 2 games are on the O. If Hosmer and company want to say it's our time quit swinging and missing.

Wow bunch of overeaction in this thread but considering the source for most, its expected. Other than getting swept by the Indians (that is not acceptable), the Royals are who we thought they are. This is a .500 type team. They have started the season pretty much how I figured they would.

LOL. Quality post you fu king douchebag.

There is no need to panic yet but the hitting really needs to get better soon before they really start pressing more than they already are. I believe that is the source of all our double plays we keep hitting into. When a guy gets on the next guys is pressing and trying way hard just to hit a HR or double and ends up swinging too hard or is too impatient and ends up being over the top of the ball resulting in those tailor made ground ball double plays.

You're telling me you thought they'd be 3-8 and looking like shit? What part of this team looks like .500 to ANYONE with a mind? You and Hudler must love talking baseball.

They played like ****ing shit against Cleveland, but they are still going to be a .500 type team when its all said and done. Anyone with a mind didn't expect them to compete with Detroit this year.

Meh, I expected a shitty start because because of bad juju in the spring (Perez injury, Soria injury, bringing back Yuni, Gio in Omaha, only going after 1 new SP), and our opening road trip in California. The frustrating thing is that so many of these losses have been perfectly winnable games (Broxton's boner being the most obvious).

Heh? A .500 type team doesn't get blasted by a 1-4 team at home 3 games in a row and find themselves 5 games under said .500 right out of the gate.

And I don't think Cleveland is a .500 type team for the season. They just fattened up on us to be there for now.

Baseball is a streaky game by nature, rarely more than in the first 6-8 weeks of the season. And we have a number of guys facing their first major league adjustments. It would not shock me at all to see some of the struggling batters start to connect, and see the team as a whole begin to move towards .500 by the middle of May.

Al Bundy 04-17-2012 10:21 PM

Keg.. I just don't see it. This team just doesn't have the pitching to climb back to .500. Tey might be able to get back to at the end of the season 10 games below .500

Our pitching is not going to get us back to .500. Our hitting might come around but I don't think it's enough to compensate for our shit rotation. Chen is our best pitcher. What does that say?

Demonpenz 04-17-2012 10:24 PM

I was at the game again tonight. Tons of bad body language. Prince Fielder and Drunk Cabrera haven't even really got going.

5 quality starts, actually (counting last night's game). And several of these are of the very weakest variety, as the starter went out after six innings. Old timers like Nolan Ryan would call coming out so early in a game being a pussy.

"Quality starts" by definition are an incredibly weak statistic. 3 runs in 6 innings really isn't great.

The starting staff is a ****ing joke, which is exactly what many of us thought might set the team back.

Payroll Bob Ford was getting snippy with callers on the post game show last night. I think he's already starting to crack.

Raiderhater 04-18-2012 10:20 AM

Expectations were too high coming into this season. Success breeds success, and failure breeds failure. After two and a half decades of failure, the franchise isn't just going to start winning on a regular basis. It will be a slow and painful process just producing a .500 caliber team.

A) Chen is awesome. I don't know why people consistently talk shit on him when he's been very good for the past couple of years, and has looked downright dominant this year.

B) Duffy looks like he's coming around as well.

Chen is certainly serviceable, and he's been more than this the last couple of years. The reason why people are hesitant to believe, however, is that his career numbers suggest that he should be falling off a cliff soon. Very, very soon.

Duffy's last outing is the best single thing that Royals fans have seen thus far this season. He looked like a legit. #1 starter. Just dominant, nasty stuff. Now, he'll need to show consistency, which is the hard part.
