Alex, place holder, wont make mistakes, will groom the qbotf while helping the Chiefs win now, blah blah blah?

Ring a bell mister.....

Not great, average player, great teacher will prolly make a great coach?

lol, how far we have come sweet daddy D

I'm taking the long view. As a Chiefs fan, I've come to embrace it.

But hes not. Hes an average qb with a more than cap friendly contract that lets the team that has him get rid of him at any point after this season for almost nothing. hes a stop gap.

A quality stop gap that while not making turnovers, will also groom the next qb. He is a coach on the field who will be a far better coach going forward than he ever will be as a player.

it was a brilliant move by Dorsey.

Yeah, 2.2 and a probable 2nd next year, to have success now, while grooming the qbotf and the ability to lock up players like Bowe, and possibly Albert going forward seems pretty fair to me.

At least they didn't give him a huge extension right away.

Bullshit its realistic. Franchise quarterbacks are gold. If Alex Smith was worth a shit he would have gotten a first for him. Trouble was nobody but our dumbasses wanted him.

And SF had to many draft picks is a farce as well, since they traded our pick to get more picks.

you are saying that Dorsey traded away 2 second picks for a "stop gap" QB. But supposedly this team is in a "win now" mode. So, in essence, you are saying Dorsey and Reid do not agree on where this team is headed.

I believe that until he is signed to an extension yes. That is the case. If they were committing to him, then he would of been signed.

Btw, you overly wide sig is ****ing up the page....

the page works fine for me... are you posting from a hand held device or something?

Either way, you are saying kc doesn't really believe in Smith. This of course completely contradicts what Reid says about Alex Smith.

First, I am sure that today Andy Reid believes in Alex Smith. In the very same way that Jim Harbaugh believed in Alex Smith. And I believe he will continue to believe in Alex Smith, until someone else, for instance Tyler Bray emerges and takes the governor off the offense.

Its cool that you seem to have a very high thought of Alex Smith. I do too, just I understand his limitations.

No, im on my computer.

Ok, so I shortened the gifs in my signature, hope that helps.

I'm not sure what to think of Smith pairing up with Reid. I just don't see how this matchup works out. As for Bray, I am high on this kid in that I think he's got lots of upside so kudos to kc for snatching him up. Could be the steal of the decade.

It did, thank you.

That's where I think many of the Chiefs fans are at. That's where I am at as well.

I saw Alex Smith as a guy to stabilize the qb position while Andy and Dorsey sorted out the rest of the roster because there wasn't a franchise qb to take at 1.1

You don't give your team, or the player a false sense that he isn't the long term future and not at least extend his contract for a couple years like say the Lions did with Stafford this offseason.

That is what gives me pause. Also, cutting Stanzi before the 4th preseason game, and giving all of those reps to Bray was another.

They are committed to the development of Bray. They are not committed to Alex Smith other than this year. He is essentially on two, one year contracts.

That's why I don't stick my neck out there and go full bora bora reerun, "HEZ DA FUTUREZ!!!"

Bray has a hell of a support system around him and all the talent in the world.

Fairplay 08-31-2013 03:25 PM

The replay if the Chiefs/GB game is on ABC right now.

Generally what point in the game should I have my lotion out and Kleenexs at the ready when Bray works his magic?

Mr_Tomahawk 08-31-2013 03:33 PM

Now.

Fairplay 08-31-2013 03:45 PM

I had to laugh not more then two minutes later Bray threw the TD pass to Hemingway.

Eleazar 08-31-2013 03:54 PM

Has anyone mentioned that the Jets plugged in Matt Simms, (was he an off-the-street free agent?), for the entirety of preseason game 4 and he was 33/44 for 285 yards with 0 interceptions?

Matt Simms has been with the jets for two years.

Not really.

He was signed from May to August 2012.

He wasn't signed again until after the 2012 season ended.

You are high as shit.

They didn't bring in Smith as a stopgap. Not a freaking chance in hell. Reid's already stated that he's going to try to get him into the Hall of Fame and has tried to acquire him for the Eagles in the past.

That's his boy right there. He envisions the athletic, mobile, intelligent Smith as the perfect guy to run his offense. Considering that he's used 7 watt lightbulbs like McNabb and Vick and has been very successful with them, Smith has to look like a 1000w metal halide grow light to Reid and his system.

Bray does have the tools, but he's got a long way to go from a technical/mechanical perspective as well as having to prove his maturity issues are behind him. If Aaron Rogers was able to sit for four years before getting the reigns handed to him, you better believe that's the entry level expectation on a guy like Bray in a system like Reids.

Smith is the guy here in KC for 5 to 8 years.

I wonder if they would trade us Simms for Daniel?

Remember Pat White? He's the 4th Quarterback on the Redskins. Wonder if they're trying to trade either him or Rexy to someone who needs a QB like the Bills or Raiders?

Yes indeed.

Smith may end up as only a stop-gap for a couple of years.. but he was brought in with the intent of being "the guy" for the next 5 to 8 years.

Fans, even the reeruned herp-derpers, will be expecting to see Bray or someone even better take that spot within 2 to 3 years, tops.

5 to 8 years of Axl?

Now THAT is the funniest goddamned thing I've EVER read on this board, bar none.

No he wasn't, if he were, they would have signed him long term. Instead they are going to let him play out his contract and go from there. In 2 years they can decide to resign him or send him packing (with no cap hit) depending on how he performs and if they think they found the right guy in the draft.

Can Tyler Bray become a poor man's Joe Flacco?

I know their IQ's are about 100 points apart but it would be real nice to see our QB have the ability to throw a pass at least 40 yards down field on a rope not a wounded duck. No team will respect us until we can. They all stuff the line and DARE us to throw over top their secondary.

He played against 2nd and 3rd stringers but I was more than mildly impressed and hope he can develop quickly.

Chase Daniels is a bloated little turd and he shows me NOTHING.

Just my two cents....
