Congrats on just a killer season, Shocker fans.
Here's hoping for an all Sunflower State championship game! |
Damn. Now that is impressive.
|
Very impressive. Looking forward to seeing how you guys do in the tournament.
|
After going to this tourney for 7 straight years, the 7 hour trip back to Wichita was alot smoother after winning it!!! The sky is the limit with these guys. Now we get to relax for a week and half, then the fun part starts.

It sucks that most likely now KU and WSU will be in the same region and would have to meet before the final four. I'm thinking #1 and #2 in the Midwest, with WSU toplining.

Yes a great article Mr. Arrowhead!
Liked this part: "My friends give me a ton of s--- because of your schedule," Rudawsky told Marshall, whose team's worthiness for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament has been #hottake fodder for weeks. Their top wins are at St. Louis and at home versus Tennessee, but a mid-major can only control so much of its scheduling: Most elite majors feel they have little to gain by subjecting themselves to a possible humbling by Wichita State. Rudawksy said this was Marshall's reply, "If they're complaining, tell them to have their favorite team call me, and I'll put them on our schedule." LMAO |
Marshall is right .. schedule up if ya want to play us ....

Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad dedicates ‘Wooo Shock’ locomotive By Jerry Siebenmark The Wichita Eagle http://media.kansas.com/smedia/2014/...D.SlMa.80.jpeg The Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad on Tuesday rolled out a 262,000-pound locomotive in support of Wichita State University. Dubbed “Wooo Shock” by the Wichita-based shortline railroad, the GP-40-2 diesel locomotive sports the WuShock logo on its front, sides and back. Railroad officials showed off the locomotive by powering it down the tracks in southwest Wichita to a crowd of about 100 Shocker supporters and railroad employees and WSU president John Bardo. “Wow! That’s a big Shocker,” Bardo said after locomotive No. 4001 came to a stop on the tracks near 800 W. Walker. “We appreciate the K&O railroad doing this and honoring our university,” he said. Jimmy Patterson, the railroad’s general manager, said in an interview following the dedication that his company wanted to do something to show its support for WSU and the city. The honor comes a few days after the WSU’s men’s basketball team wound up its regular season and conference tournament undefeated, with a 34-0 record. “We just wanted to show pride in our local community,” Patterson said. “We decided to make this Wooo Shock and let it run across Kansas.” The decorating of the locomotive consisted of gaining permission from WSU for use of the WuShock and Go Shocks logos, hiring a local firm to produce large decals of the logos and applying the decals to the recently painted black-and-yellow, 3,000-horsepower locomotive, which was manufactured in 1974. Patterson said application of the logos took workers about a day. “We had our crew up till midnight last night” making sure the locomotive was ready, he said. He said the locomotive’s black and yellow were not part of the makeover. All of the railroad’s locomotives, as well as many of the others operated by its parent company, Watco Cos., have the same color scheme. The railroad, which employs 91 people, had once before discussed decorating one of its locomotives to honor the Shockers. “We had talked about doing it three or four years ago,” Patterson said. “Once they (the men’s basketball team) got on their run this year, we decided now’s the time to do it.” He said Watco has done similar dedications, including for Pittsburg State University. Watco is based in Pittsburg, Kan. The Kansas and Oklahoma is one of 31 railroads Watco owns and operates in 21 states and western Australia. The Kansas and Oklahoma originates more than 800 miles of track from Wichita to Conway Springs to the south, Pratt to the west and Corinth to the north. In 2001, Watco acquired the railroad, previously known as Central Kansas Railway, from Denver-based OmniTrax. |
This is how a great coach does things right.

Cant wait to see WSU on that 1 line today. Never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen
|
Good luck shockers, you guys got handed probably the toughest half of the toughest region.
|
What a brutal bracket.
|
They get an opportunity to earn and prove themselves.
|
Brutal region
|
no offense to k state fans, but please give me kentucky, we will show them boys the correct way to play basketball
|
Just took another look, that is the toughest half of the toughest region I've seen in a while. If Wichita State loses, people will say "told ya so" which may be unfair.
K-State or Kentucky, then a hilariously underseeded Louisville squad, and then Duke or Michigan. DAMN. |
"It's a Long ways to the top if you wanna rock n roll"
GOOD LUCK SHOX. |
Tough draw. If Kentucky doesn't beat WSU, I suspect Louisville will.
|
Keep doing work. That's the name of the game. Do work - one opponent at a time. GO SHOX!
|
WSU, KU, KSU all converge in St. Louis. Is that pretty bizarre or what?

+1 and +1 again for Antoine and X.

Nothing to be ashamed of, our boys played their tails off yesterday. That was honesty the best game I have ever seen in person. Unfortunately we got the play the preseason #1 Kentucky. Honestly I think Kentucky would have beat any team the country yesterday. We will have to replace Early, but we got Cotton, Baker, and FVV coming back along with a great recruiting class. I would think we will be in the preseason top 20 next season. Also watch out for my guy Shaq Morris, he gonna surprise some people next year.

I watched the UK KSU game and thought WSU had it made in the shade. The UK team WSU faced was far far different than the one KSU faced. If they play like that from here on out they will be tough to beat. Either way, great season from WSU. It's tough to end it in the round of 32, but at least least WSU lost to a good team while playing well. I'll take that over coming out cold and playing like shit and losing to a junk team in the round of 32. |
Crazy to think UK had to play a near flawless game to beat WSU.
Losing Anthony will hurt a lot and hopefully Shaq Morris' red shirting will allow him to beast it up - their front court will need it. |
Always disappointing to lose. Great season, great kids and wonderful coaching. Once the sting wears off I will remember this past season fondly. Go Shox!

Honestly we will be alot deeper next year, we really only went 7 or 8 deep. Next year we should have a back up PG instead of using Baker as we got Rian Holland who redshirted and then incoming Freshman Corey Henderson who is a true PG. I do think Carter will have a pretty good year next year as well, him and Carl Hall numbers were pretty similar to their Junior year. I can honesty see us going 9 or 10 deep next season which Marshall prefers.

Also looks like Chris Jans took the Head Coaching job at Bowling Green

Can't add much more to the discussion. We have definitely crossed over to the fast lane and Marshall is building a program that will continue to perform at the elite level. We're not going anywhere any time soon.
Here is a quote from Marshalls coaches show last week. I cut out a few items but here is the money quote: "I think that we have at Wichita State the last couple of seasons left the right lane and gone into the fast lane. And there are people that don't appreciate us being in the fast lane. 'You have left YOUR lane'. And unfortunately women, minorities, people like that in our society have faced that same stigma and that sterotype of "Stay in YOUR lane - this is the Good Ol' Boy Network" and that is not right. And we have gone into this fast lane and there are people who resent that. 'Hold up - you're not supposed to be doing this. You stay in your right lane and accept that.' And we've just simply said 'no,we don't accept that'. We are going to be in the left lane, you can get up on our bumper, you can honk your horn and you can try and run us over but we are now going to run in this lane." - Coach Marshall GO SHOX! |
WSU was awesome this year, they were incredibly fun to watch the 3-4 times I caught them. They were clearly better than my team this year and that game yesterday was 10,000x better than the pig slop before it.
|
WSU fans should hang their heads high, there was no shame in losing that one. Marshall will keep that program at the top as long as he stays, so the haters might as well start getting used to it.
Really, the reason programs like WSU get hated on is irrational to the core - the idea of "major" vs. "mid-major" is arbitrary and pointless. There are plenty of great "mid-major" programs and plenty of "major" programs that are simply wasting a spot in the P5. Yet for some reason the former gets all the criticism while the latter doesn't get any at all. |
You couldn't have asked for more from this team. They were a pleasure to watch and made all Shocker fans proud. I hope Gregg Marshall relishes this role he's now found himself in and won't decide to bolt for some "greener pastures" when I believe he now has everything in place he needs to be an annual contender in the Big Dance. He has a great fan base, facilities, community support, reputation and national recognition. In other words, he's got the ball rolling very well. Why on earth would he want to start over from scratch with some disoriented new team?
|
Congratulations Coach Marshall but at the same time.....uh oh.
Gregg Marshall named Basketball Writer's national coach of the year! http://www.kansas.com/2014/03/24/336...me-gregg.html# |

Derail Green left the program, but we got a commitment for Tevin Glass this morning, who is a juco PF. Glass was ranked 123rd out of HS.
Tevin Glass @Topnotch_Tglass 4m Just officially signed with Wichita st. Its been a roller coaster I like to thank God, my family, my friends and everyone who supports me! |

Conner Frankamp leaving Kansas Updated: December 1, 2014, 4:33 PM ET By Jeff Goodman and Myron Medcalf | ESPN.com Kansas transfer Conner Frankamp is headed to Wichita State. Frankamp, who confirmed to ESPN.com that he's transferring, said he picked the Shockers because he felt a kinship with Wichita State players and coaches. "I really connected well with the coaching staff and I feel I could fit well in their system," he told ESPN.com on Monday. "And of course, it's tough to say no to home." Frankamp, who is a Wichita native, left the Jayhawks just prior to the start of his sophomore season in search of an expanded role. He averaged 2.5 points in 8.3 minutes per game as a freshman, but he played a significant role in the NCAA tournament. However, the 6-foot Frankamp was stuck behind Frank Mason III and freshman Devonte Graham at the point this season - and there was also a logjam on the wing with Wayne Selden Jr., Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Brannen Greene and Kelly Oubre Jr. Frankamp will be eligible to play after the first semester next season for the Shockers - who may also have the backcourt of Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker back in the fold. Both VanVleet and Baker are juniors, although there is a chance that Baker could leave early for the NBA Draft. |
