Stafford is one ugly SOB. Inbred looking sucker.

The worst thing to happen to Stafford was getting Megatron. Dude repeatedly forces the ball when he shouldn't. It also happens to be the best thing to happen to him as well.
|
With the talent they have in Detroit, there's no way that team should be .500. Awful coaching.

I just watched that replay - man that kick was incredible.
I'm sure most of you have played some ball, did any of you bother to stand at the 40 yard line and look at the goalposts? The damn things look about as wide as a postage stamp. It's absolutely unbelievable that someone can kick a friggen football 60 yards away and get them through those things. And when you look at the make, he was literally less than a foot away from the right upright and maybe 3 feet above the crossbar. You couldn't tuck that thing in any closer than that. |
The guy who called the game tonight wouldn't be a bad choice for Detroit.

On defense, the line is pretty much set and Tulloch and Levy are good. They could probably upgrade the LDE spot (why'd they let Avril go?) and everyone in the secondary needs to go. At least 9 dome games a season (8 home and 1 in MIN) and that's not a bad situation for a new head coach to walk into. |

I think you want a guy who will still run a Coryell offense, but with coaches that actually pay attention to fundamentals. Detroit has terrible fundamentals and discipline. |

Gruden's offense isn't a great fit for his power arm. |

They should have torpedoed Schwartz last year and brought in Arians.

What more could you do to prove your incompetence? That's the NFL in a nutshell, though. Schwartz and Gunther were butt buddies from their days in Tennessee, and given Fisher's inability to ever have a team not stocked with felons committing 130 penalties a year, it's not surprising that this Detroit team commits just as many dumbass mistakes. |

I love this man...LMAO |

At this point, I have no idea who to promote for coaching gigs. All of the hyped hires are almost universally a product of great players and suck without them. |

He favors more of a pro-set, play action heavy downfield passing attack. Off the board, maybe take a look at David Shaw. Stafford's an old-school, Drew Bledsoe type of immobile, rocket armed pocket passer. I'm not sure he has the accuracy/timing/intelligence for a Coryell offense. But if you set him up in a system that relies on basic pro-sets and power running that opens passing lanes downfield, he could be damn dangerous. I just don't think he's a smart enough QB for Ehardt Perkins, Coryell, WCO or any of the more complicated offensive schemes. |
There is no ****ing way I'd ever leave a top 20 college program for an NFL job.
College gigs pay just as well now, you aren't forced by institutional pressures to work 110 hours a week (even though they are almost certainly filled with non-productive hours), and although you have to recruit, much of that can still be delegated. The worst part would be kissing booster ass. Oh, how that would ****ing suck. Still, better than spending 15 hours a day watching film to try and get an advantage that everyone has already pored over 20 times. |

I don't see Shaw leaving Stanford.

He comes off as a dipshit because he plays like one.
I know it's conventional to blame coaching at this point, but c'mon - this isn't a rookie. The guy's been in the league for a pretty long time now. I don't expect him to suddenly flip a switch and become smart with the football. |
Maybe go out of the box and take a look at jay gruden

No question, the Lions are extremely talented. Whatever good they do is offset by their mistakes – I would think, coaching has a lot to do with that. If the Lions don't win their division this year, they only have themselves to blame. |
