No sign of #colts CB Vontae Davis or Aubrayo Franklin

Bjoern Werner not practicing. Brace on left ankle

Let's not overreact, but #colts healthy CBs today are Cassius Vaughn, Josh Gordy, Sheldon Price.

You have to give Succop a pass on that miss. The Chargers had more men on his left side than we could block. He had to see that free man coming out of the corner of his eye which caused him to not be able to fully follow through toward the center of the goal posts. If the refs did their job and threw the penalty flag we would have had another try from 36 yards. I can't blame Succop for flinching in that situation and I don't have any worries about him in the playoffs. Succop won't be a goat and he has proven to be a reliable kicker.

why are there no tickets available when I checked ticket-scheister yesterday at around 6 in the pm?

I'm so tired of inflated ticket prices- Colts announced playoff tickets would go on sale Monday morning at 10am, and yet on Sunday night stubhub had over 10000 tickets already on sale- how the hell does that happen with out essentially kicking back $$$ to get a huge allotment ahead of time in exchange the tickets go for well over "face value" and essentially boosting the actual ticket prices as the venues in question certainly get some additional $$$ for turning it over to the ticket brokers.

For example, before tickets went on sale to the General public for the Champions Classic up here in Chicago, brokers essentially had all but a few thousand of the available. Face value for the tickets started at $37 and the most expensive ticket was $145.
Brokers were selling the the cheapest $37 ticket for $250-400, lower level $145 were jacked up to $4000 to $10000, and the most expensive were 2 I saw 1st row floor (still only $145 face value) a pair, 2 tickets, for $39,995.

That's absurdity!

Can our kicker do better than a guy on a message board? That's a great rule of thumb in judging a kicker.

Quote:

If you never played sports then don't criticize real athletes.
That's actually the number 1 rule of message boards, and sports talk in general. If you haven't played a pro sport, you can't comment on their play. I mean the real point of a message board is to see what cool avatar's we could all pick out.

What a stupid argument, and it's always pulled out now and then by some butt-hurt homer. Of course it's only a one-sided argument. We aren't in position to criticize since we haven't played but of course we are in position to compliment even though we haven't played.

The play should have been a penalty, but he should have made the kick. I don't hate Succop but he has missed big ones before and even though the game didn't count you could tell that kick didn't result in an "oh well" reaction from Ryan. It's reasonable to be concerned about past kicks and that one in general being in his head. I also can't blame people for thinking immediately of all the issues the Chiefs have had with kickers against the Colts in the playoffs.

Reid has already talked about it. Hali has swelling in his knee and it's getting better.

imo there is no reason to risk irritating the knew with practice a veteran like Hali doesn't really need.

I'm kind of interested to see how the line performs with Albert and Stephenson at the tackle spots- since Donald has been playing much better.

Maybe not the best time to change it up in your 1st playoff game, and the only other time those 2 started for us this season, Stephenson was terrible- #6 worst player grade for that week of games out of every player at every position in the league.

I don't expect it to be a repeat of poor play- and it might end up being a + for the line as Fish has been up and down even though he has improved too. You'd still prefer to have him available for the game should we need a backup for some reason.

Yeah, he did a whale of a job on Welker. He's normally to much of a gambler for me though. He goes for the highlight to much instead of just making the routine play.

Plus, there's the issue of his health. The dude is made of glass. That alone made him unworthy of the contract we gave him, IMO.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-02-2014 05:40 AM

I haven't read through this thread, so I won't be surprised if what I'm about to say is a huge Q. But I don't care.

This team that is playing on Saturday is the team that was 9-1 with a **** ton of sacks, and a top 3 defense. It's also the same team who's offense has exploded with a QB who is coming into his own in the WCO. We're healthy. This isn't the team that went 2-5 down the stretch, banged up, shuffling players here and there, and with NO Justin Houston. At times NO Tamba Hali. And with NO Branden Albert.

They're hungry. They're pissed. And they're out to prove people wrong about them. This is the year we make a run. Be happy the ****ing Chargers made the playoffs. Be happy we got shafted at the end of that game TWICE to lose that allowed them in.

Why? Because the Chargers are another team that can make some noise. I'm not sure that we can beat Denver again. If we can, we'll need to get some momentum built up, and I don't want to play them until the AFC Championship if possible.

The Bengals are a great home team, so I don't know that the Chargers can win that game. I mean the Bengals are night and day different home and away. If the Bengals win, they'll lay right the **** down in NE. We wouldn't. So be Chargers fans on Sunday. Let them go to Denver.

That's all conjecture, because we haven't won a playoff game in 20 years.

I'm calling my shot. We're winning this game. And I don't think it's going to be close in the last 5 minutes of the game. I think we'll have a 2 + possession lead. I truly think we're going to make some noise in the playoffs this year, and I think we're the sleeper Super Bowl pick in the AFC.

ChiefRocka 01-02-2014 05:54 AM

I agree that if the Chargers win than we can reach the AFC championship game in Denver. That's where I stop my enthusiasm.

As a fan, how can you not be thrilled. After last years abortion the Chiefs are in a playoff game. Who could have imagined? Not only that but I like our chances with a rested team and Houston back. I have not been this excited for a football game in a very long time.

We have the early game, but still late enough to devote the whole damn day to this game.

I like the positive vibes. But this is the Chiefs, so I'm really expecting a first round exit.

However, my hope is that Reid will put us over the top given that he has had playoff success before.

RunKC 01-02-2014 01:00 PM

I think we're going to win this game, and I believe that Mr. Flopnuts post was spot on.

This team is hungry for a playoff win. Berry, Flowers, DJ, Bowe, Albert and Charles have been here for years. They lived through the bad times and they want this shit.
Do not think that for one second these guys didn't think about 2010 vs the Ravens, or last year.

Alex Smith is hungry as well. He wants to prove that he can lead a team far.

I fully expect our defense to look the way at did for most of the the game vs the Ravens. They were hungry and played fantastic football. They are going to want to prove themselves. I fully expect Luck to be pressured in the pocket consistently.
I fully expect the offense to play with urgency throughout the entire game much like they did in the first half of both Denver games.

And I also expect Charles to run hard and with authority that we don't usually see. He wants this so bad and I don't blame him.

Indy knows we're not going to be the same team as last time. We aren't turning the ball over a handful of times.

tonyetony 01-02-2014 01:32 PM

2 days to go and plenty of tickets available. There should be plenty of red mixed in with this wine and cheese crowd.

Approximately 4,500 tickets remain available for this Saturday’s Chiefs at Colts Wild Card Playoff game (kickoff 4:35 p.m.). Prices vary from $56 to $155 (non-club).

It is. There is little reason to become emotionally invested in this team.

This whole year can be summed up in the following sentence:

"Oh, the Chiefs won? That's nice honey."

Probably been mentioned somewhere but I just realized this is the first dome game we will play this year.

I think the turf should help our pass rush. Of course it will help Baltimore's too but I think we have more guys that will benefit.

hmmmm.

Suggs is going to do some damage from his couch.

Todd Heap with another catch over the middle.

Walt Anderson to ref the Chiefs game (Link: http://www.footballzebras.com/2014/01/01/9805/)

Somehow Jeff Triplette got a playoff assignment… he is doing the Chargers-Bengals game.

... We're healthy. This isn't the team that went 2-5 down the stretch, banged up, shuffling players here and there, and with NO Justin Houston. At times NO Tamba Hali. And with NO Branden Albert.

....

Definitely a tad of a homer hangover... I think it will be a much closer game.

Hali's knee is more of a problem than what the team is saying & I don't like the fact that Houston hasn't played in a game since he went down. And, we're in their dome.

This is going to come down to coaching --both teams are complimentary. I want to see what Reid has planned and how our coaches make adjustments at halftime.

I'm so ****ing happy I have Clay on ignore now.

Dude is absolutely worthless.

Last playoff game at Indy, we got out-gained 437 to 126 yards. Horrifying. Thank god we have a real coach this time.

It's really not.

It's hard for incredibly miserable people who think that if you're not winning a Super Bowl with a set group of players you like, then the season is a complete waste.

It's generally the ones that talk out both sides 99% of the time, too.

I think the turf really helps Jamaal.

This season has been invaluable for me. My son is starting to watch football and the fact that the Chiefs were relevant and winning made him far more interested.
