I live in the DFW area, and Ft Worth is a hell of a lot more interesting and fun place to be as compared to the northern suburbia. The wife and I actually prefer Ft Worth to Dallas. Only downside to Ft Worth is that as a non-smoker, it removes a few places from the eating list due to no smoking ban in Ft Worth.

The only time I think about Plano/Frisco is when I see your posts in here and then I'm reminded of how shitty North "Dallas" really is.

Fort Worth's smoking ban is a lot softer than Dallas'. If a restaurant receives 51% of its revenue from food then it has to be non-smoking. You can still smoke in bars.

Frisco is the textbook definition of upper middle class white suburbia

It's one of the fastest growing cities in the US. A lot of new construction. The Cowboys are moving their headquarters and training facility up here. There's minor league baseball and basketball, but if you want the real thing you can go to Dallas. Many of the schools are rated Exemplary and they're new and hire some of the best teachers in the state. Any kind of food you could want.

It's sort of like Johnson County, KS on steroids.

And housing here per square foot is like a third of that in places like DC of other east coast cities.

If seeing the same strip mall every 5 miles and soul sucking blandness is your thing, then it is right up your alley.

1) Almost every Texan is insane, and this insanity readily presents itself as drivers of F-250 pickups barreling up I-35 at 100mph around midnight or hipsters threatening to shoot anyone who touches their Macbook during a houseparty.
2) They choose to live in the part of the country that might as well be a desert, but insist on having green lawns and air conditioning for 3000+ square foot homes in spite of the fact that energy is about to be a ****tonne more expensive than it ever has been.
3) Similarly, unchecked growth has spread urban areas out, forcing people to use private transport in spite of the fact that gasoline is getting increasingly expensive.
4) They think it's okay for high school football to last until the middle of December.

There may be a relocation to Dallas in my future, due to work. I want a house, but I don't have kids and don't really want to be around any either.

Yes, there is no traffic in KC that's even remotely comparable to DFW's cluster**** traffic.

I currently live in Brookside. I like Midtown/West Plaza/Columbus Park/Brookside. Waldo starts to push it. Wife and I are both working professionals with no kids.

I don't mind kids really, it's more the moms and dads that we have a hard time connecting with, but I'm pushing 40 so I don't want to live next to a bunch of starters either.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Work would be in downtown Dallas.

Uptown, Park Cities, Love Field, and Oak Cliff (northern part of it. South Oak Cliff is shit) are where I would start my search then. All of those would have a pretty short commute into downtown (short for DFW commute).
