It will boost us a lot more on ESPN and 24/7. He is the #2 recruit in the nation according to them. DGB, in comparison, was #3. He is #13 on 24/7, but only #36 on Rivals.

I don't know how our other players are rated on ESPN. We are #31 according to Rivals at this point and #27 on 24/7.

ESPN loves this class. Beckner would give them 10 4 stars, and that doesn't include Harris or Doherty.

I'm not sure there is a huge difference, but they'd be expected to give him a scholly next year. They may want that scholly for other prospects (again, assuming they get Beckner).

Jeremy Crabtree is good. I have a lot of respect for him. The rest of the ESPN crew... Not so much.

Rivals is best at rankings in Texas, compared to other sites. It's weak in the rust belt and only so-so in The Southeast. Seems to ignore LA and Mississippi past the elite guys.

I do think Rivals/Helmholdt is missing the boat with Terry Beckner. Every other service (well, ESPN and 247, the other big football ones) has him in the top 10. I know Crabby has seen him a lot. And he was outstanding at his elite camps.

I tend to like 247 for a national look :.. Even if they have recruiting analysts who foolishly listen to East St. Louis assistants rather than Darren Sunkett. Maybe this year it's lesson learned?

We'll see with Jeff thomas in two years.

How do you feel about the class overall? I haven't followed it at all outside the Davis twins.

I think Riley deserves credit for keeping the class together usually after a coach is fired a lot of guys left. That wasn't the case this time and I think it says alot about Riley.

I quit caring as much about 5* or 4* guys the last year. Schools like Mizzou and Wisconsin have proven that doesn't really matter. As far as this class goes from what I've seen on tape there's a lot of athletes guys who can fly to the ball and speedy WR's.
