4 playoff seasons in a row...that's the stuff of legend in KC |
I'm not sure how Marvin Lewis still has a job...

It's a typo. They meant #42 not #24. Chiefs.

I have a terrible feeling about the upcoming season. If we thought Reid was pass happy before with absolutely ZERO points production from the wide receivers, just imagine what he is going to be like this year with Maclin and Conley.
5-8 carries per game for Jamaal, 35+attempts for Smith. That D better be for real. |

Why do people insist on posting stupid shit like this? |
You must have missed the entirety of last season. Hell, you must have missed the entirety of Andy Reids entire coaching career.

JC will be 29 this year, I'm good with limiting his touches. |
Andy Reid is a crappy gameday coach, but he's pretty good at game-planning before the game. His worst coaching jobs of the year, as far as game-planning goes, was Tennessee and at Oakland. His best was against Seattle. How did the Chiefs beat Seattle? We ran the ball down their throats.
Simply put, if there's a weakness that a team is showing, Reid will try to exploit it. |

We ran the ball a lot last year. Alex/Chase had 492 combined passing attempts and JC/Davis/DAT had 354 rush attempts.
With those numbers, we ran the ball 42% of the time. A lot for a Reid offense. Also, the Chiefs should run Davis more than Charles on 3rd downs. I'd like to see JC used in the slot more this year as well. Keep him from getting hit in the middle of the field. |

edit: ok i'll clarify, i do think we have a solid chance for playoff berth AND a solid chance to win. guess i don't expect a win, but think we've got a better than dumb and dumber chance. |

Some minor Jamaal Charles trivia for you on a Friday.
Jamaal has 6,856 rushing yards in his career on 1,249 rushes. This ranks 61st in NFL history. If he maintains the yardage he's had the past three years, he'll move up past Larry Csonka to the #46 ranking. To find a person on the top rushing list with fewer carries, you have to go to the 85th rank and Michael Vick, though of course Vick is a quarterback so it's a different thing. The nearest running back with fewer than 1,249 carries appears to be Greg Pruitt of the 1970s Browns. Pruitt is ranked 95th in the list with 1,196 carries for 5,672 yards (a stellar 4.7 ypc average). He's almost 1,200 yards behind Jamaal with only 53 fewer carries. The active running backs closest to Jamaal in career rushing yards are: Deangelo Williams - currently 10 yards behind Jamaal and has 143 more carries. Lesean McCoy - currently 64 yards behind Jamaal and has 172 more carries. Arian Foster - currently 545 yards behind Jamaal and has 142 more carries. Ray Rice - currently 676 yards behind Jamaal and has 141 more carries, excluding carrying his wife out of the elevator. Matt Forte - currently 848 yards ahead of Jamaal and has 528 more carries. |
Hall of Famers by career yardage
Top ten all-time - 9 eligible, 9 in the Hall (Tomlinson isn't eligible yet.) Rank 11-20 - 7 eligible, 5 in the Hall (Marcus Allen, Franco Harris, Thurman Thomas (gah - what a miscarriage), John Riggins, O.J. Simpson) Ranks 21-30 - 7 eligible, 0 in the Hall Ranks 31-40 - 7 eligible, 3 in the Hall (Joe Perry, Earl Campbell, Jim Taylor) Ranks 41-50 - 9 eligible, 1 in the Hall (Csonka) Ranks 51-60 - 8 eligible, 1 in the Hall (Leroy Kelly - think he made it as an old-timer) It looks like you need to be top 20 to have a fighting chance, which is a little more than 11,000 yards. You need to be top 10 to have a strong chance, which is a little more than 12,000 yards. So Jamaal needs four more seasons to hit 11,000 and five seasons to hit 12,000. Is he going to do it? |
He needs some transcendent playoff wins to get into the Hall.
Don't hold your breath. |

On the most important down? Just mix it up more. Easy fix. |

AT LEAST 4 more seasons of high quality play (1000+ rushing yards, a lot of receiving yards, maintain that absurd YPC average through all of it) will get him in, I think. Marshawn Lynch has those transcendent playoff games, and I kind of doubt he's going to the HOF unless he also continues to play 4 or 5 more years with seasons similar to the production rate he currently has. |

Denvers championship window is over, Peyton gets a little worse every year but again still probably good enough to hold off Chiefs/Chargers for now. Chiefs can slip into playoffs with similar season/record as last year. Until proven otherwise hard to see this team making any noise. The D just isnt good enough to compensate for a conservative small ball offense/QB that relies on playing mistake free football. You need a pair an O like this one with a top D to be taken serious, but one and done's are possible. |
