That Rios strikeout re-energized McCullers and made the Royals glitch out.

Still more pissed at Rios, though.

At least Cain looked like he wanted to hit the ball. Rios looked like he wanted to end his PA as fast as he could.

Why Not? 10-12-2015 12:07 PM

If I'm Dyson I'm on the first train out of town in the off season. If they won't even give me a shot over this **** stick stiff Rios, I'll never get one here.

Definitely not hard to visualize a Rios AB.

ChiTown 10-12-2015 12:08 PM

That was a helluva pitch to Altuve.

Yo is bouncing back well after that HR. We're gonna need him to be brilliant to have any shot, what with most of the lineup Riosing at the moment.

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:11 PM

YO!!!!!

KCCHIEFS27 10-12-2015 12:11 PM

Name one other player this year that hit a homerun so hard that it forced the opposing teams fireworks to go off....Pssh, only Rios. He's a stud, let's face it. haha

Coach 10-12-2015 12:11 PM

Nice pitch. Holy shit.

58-4ever 10-12-2015 12:12 PM

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu*******

Coach 10-12-2015 12:12 PM

Annnnnd that just happened. ****.

Why Not? 10-12-2015 12:12 PM

Well, that lead was fun

siberian khatru 10-12-2015 12:12 PM

So we're gonna need more runs

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:12 PM

Well, ****.

DJ's left nut 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

WTF was that?

Did Ventura just fire a 94 mph changeup?

That's as much violence as I've ever seen during a single pitch. Everything from Ventura was arms/legs flailing (so much so that it appeared to spin him two steps off the mound) and the hack that Springer took might as well have been like Billy Madison running up there and swinging as hard as possible. That looked like an All-Star game sequence where two guys were just airing it out to see what would happen.

Did Ventura bust out a hellacious 2-seamer or was that just a comically fast changeup?

58-4ever 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

This sucks. We need to start hitting pop ups to left. They all go out.

GloryDayz 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

P00p...

Swing for the fences guys, swing for the fences. In this park they're close, so swing for the fences....

Hey look, it's the greasy-head guy...

Hootie 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

All I wanted to do was get through that ****ing inning ... ****

ChiefsCountry 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

Piece of shit band box park.

KChiefs1 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

Can we keep the ball in the park Ventura. ****!

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

This ballpark is way too ****in tiny.

Reerun_KC 10-12-2015 12:13 PM

Houston can ball....

Dudes love the yard work...

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:14 PM

It's all strikeouts and home runs for Yo.

TEX 10-12-2015 12:14 PM

CRUSH CITY!!!

Reerun_KC 10-12-2015 12:14 PM

If the ball park is so tiny, why can the royals hit some more home runs.

KChiefs1 10-12-2015 12:14 PM

These announcers are too happy when Houston hits a HR & too sad when they strikeout.

Hootie 10-12-2015 12:14 PM

Altuve, Springer, Correa, Rasmus is just not fun

Can't really fault Ace for that. ****, that was a great swing.

thebrad84 10-12-2015 12:15 PM

No true ace pitcher and an offense not built for power trying to swing for power. That's a recipe for a short postseason..

We have warning track power.

Hootie 10-12-2015 12:15 PM

Correa didn't even barrel that shit ... God damn. Let's go offense

jimidollar 10-12-2015 12:15 PM

We need at least three more runs.

DJ's left nut 10-12-2015 12:15 PM

Ventura got away with that pitch to Rasmus - that was a badly hung curve that should've made it 3-2 Astros.

Still, the score wouldn't support it, but both pitchers actually seem to have found some rythm a little. McCullers is getting his fastball back down a bit and his curve has been sharp all game. Ventura's looking good, solo shots notwithstanding.

This looks like it'll be a hell of a ballgame. Power pitchers, angry players and high stakes. Strap in, fellas - you're going to need some tums by the end of it, I suspect.

In fact, it appears as though they can ONLY hit home runs.

Why Not? 10-12-2015 12:15 PM

Pivotal inning. Hosmer and moose need to do something here

ChiTown 10-12-2015 12:16 PM

as good as Yo's stuff is today, they are hitting every mistake he makes right on the ****ing screws.

thebrad84 10-12-2015 12:16 PM

Can anyone explain to me WTF Savly continues to call for pitches on the inner half against a team that loves pulling the ball for power?

KCUnited 10-12-2015 12:16 PM

Springer SO was huge.

The park is reeruned. It is mentally ****ing disabled. It has a hill in center field, Alex Smith could throw it from home plate to the wall in left, but you can hit it 435 feet to center for a long out... there's concrete just above the wall in places in left, making it difficult to figure out if it's actually a home run. A ball hit the roof. No one even knows where Cain's home run went yesterday.

petegz28 10-12-2015 12:17 PM

Maybe we can try scoring more than 2 runs a game? As Hosmer watches a meatball

Molitoth 10-12-2015 12:18 PM

Hosmer is ****ing worthless this series.

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:18 PM

Hosmer is garbage at the plate right now :(

DeezNutz 10-12-2015 12:18 PM

Hos, at some point today, must play to his reputation.

Hosmer looks lost. He should be hitting a guy like McCullers

Three7s 10-12-2015 12:18 PM

And another incredible AB by Hos.

DeezNutz 10-12-2015 12:18 PM

Aoki spotting.

KCUnited 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

Have to hit this guys fastball when he shows it to you.

petegz28 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

WTF, Kendrys??? WOW! Let's just swing and hope we connect...

DeezNutz 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

Two dog shit ABs.

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

Really genuinely sad about how poorly Hos is playing.

And super pissed at Rios for playing exactly as well as we all expect.

KCCHIEFS27 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

Man, these Royals hitters are SMOKING the ball

Molitoth 10-12-2015 12:19 PM

Astros deserve to win. They play with attitude and want this win.
The Royals have just looked lost.

This is pathetic. Outside a couple AB's here and there, this team is swinging so shitty it's not even funny. Really sad to watch.

mr. tegu 10-12-2015 12:20 PM

We have officially let McCullers settle in. He will likely go 6 or 7 innings now.

You know you're sucking balls when you swing at a pitch that beans you.

Mizzou_8541 10-12-2015 12:20 PM

Hosmer. Jesus.

Because Houston allows for a lot of accidental HRs and Ventura has the octane to get that inside fastball by guys.

If you try to work them away, they'll just flick the bat out there and hit an 'oops' HR out of it. That or they'll slap it into that cavern in RC. They'll have a lot more baserunners that way. If you work them inside, they're going to have a much harder time getting their hands out there, clearing out their lower half and driving it. They'll swing through more pitches and strike out more that way.

You just have to accept that the Astros are going to hit HRs, but if you continue to keep them inside conscious, you're going to get most of them as solo shots.

It's not a bad approach at all, really. If you're Chris Young, I don't recommend it. But with Ventura's gas working like it is and with the armside run he's getting on his heat right now, staying inside against a team that has a lot of struggles with fastballs over 95 is definitely defensible.

2 runs isn't going to beat the Astros in Houston. Ventura's given up those HRs, but he's also made a few batters look really silly. He's drawn a tough assignment and if he cedes the inner half, it will be that much worse.

tmw4h5 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

Back from lunch. Hosmer is a joke at the plate. His cold streaks are the reason he'll never get a huge contract. Gordon has been horrible at the plate for a while now.
And yes, this team is playing with little-to-no energy for the most part. This team looks nothing like last year's team. Keep convincing yourself that they're the same, but this team has looked dead for well over a month now.

GloryDayz 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

Woot.

petegz28 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

Here's a thought..if the pitch starts at or below your knees..DON'T SWING!

Molitoth 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

Nice hit, only a single in this ****ing little league park.

ChiTown 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

come on Sal!!!!

carcosa 10-12-2015 12:22 PM

There we go. Solid AB and good hit by Moose. Just wish we had fewer than two outs...

I'm glad the AL is getting a taste of that POS park.

It was the bane of my existence when they were in the NL. Like you said - 430 ft outs followed by 275 ft HRs. It's like playing baseball on a goddamn rectangle. It's an awful, awful stadium. It cost the Cards a pennant in 2005 and now that the Astros are relevant again, it will make its presence known often in the future.

Molitoth 10-12-2015 12:23 PM

I feel like a 2014 Angels fan.

Rasputin 10-12-2015 12:23 PM

Let's Go Royals

Hootie 10-12-2015 12:24 PM

Great, it's the postseason, and now dipshit DJ's Left Nut has to tell us how the game is played!!!

Get the **** outta here! Go lube yourself up for tonight's Arrieta raping
