Watching this thread derail, it occurs to me that the Mets fans seem to mostly play nice with each other. Even in vehement disagreement I haven't seen much at all in the way of personal attacks directed at each other.

A lot of similarities given the 29 years of suffering for both franchises. The "been a Royals fan for 2 years" is a tired narrative, but understandable given an outsiders perspective. Ive attended so many games of bad baseball and watched these guys lose so much over the years while coming back for more you'd think I was a masochist, but that's what's made the last few years that much sweeter.

We should organize a joint game day thread for tomorrow's game - someone pm Bob Dole to set up the specifics.

Joint game day thread with Mets fans? I like it! is it possible? Is this idea going anywhere?

RealSNR 10-29-2015 12:02 PM

Hey guys, good news! I just got my government paycheck and the wife picked up an extra $5 from this big city rich guy she met while working at the tassles bar. I was going to spend that on extra duct tape to fix up all the holes in our trailer, but given that the World Series only comes once every 4 years, and the Royals happen to be playing in it, I think I'll actually pay my cable bill this time and enjoy the rest of the series on our color television set!

I'm cool with them plunking us. Put a guy on base, groove one of those ever-so terrifying 95+ fastballs they're all so fond of and it's a two run shot. Then Ventura gets to come out and paste somebody with triple digits. Maybe we can get Kelvin to work up a 101 special for Murphy's face.

It's hilarious that a lot of Mets fans are so defeated that they're already pulling out the "cheaters! Must be cheating!" card. Just admit the Royals are better than you expected and you overvalued your own team as well. Give credit and accept that the Royals are a damn good team.

And we in turn should admit this would be 1-1 without an incredible 440' bomb to tie it in the 9th by Gordon. Margin of error is always slight at this level.

Stealing signals is the reason the Royals are hitting? Uh, what? Didn't these numbskulls from the projects follow the Toronto or Houston series? Don't they know that the Royals put the ball in play more than any team in baseball and by a wide margin?

All of my friends that are Mets fans are in awe of the Royals hitters, defense and pitching. It's a great TEAM. They're not "cheating".

The Royals have been the best team in baseball since October 1st, 2014. Anyone that follows baseball, watches ESPN, Fox Sports, the MLB channel or has the MLB Extra Innings package (as I do) knows this is true.

That's not a conspiracy theory, though. It's widely known. For the lubricant, they stopped the game to deal with it and players all freely admit to it. For the salary cap violations the league busted them and took away draft picks.

Agreed.

The difference is that these dumbass Mets fans can't deal with the fact that the Royals are kicking their asses so naturally, the Royals must be cheating.

Morons.

DaneMcCloud 10-29-2015 02:42 PM

Also, their "theory" that if the Royals don't hit well against Syndergaard on Friday at Citi proves the Royals are cheating is also ****ing moronic.

Personally, I expect the Mets to win Friday night. Two epic games in KC, one easy, one not so easy, a travel day and a park in which they haven't played since 2013, with the Royals winning 6-2.

If the Royals do beat Syndergaard Friday night, it's all but over.

There's also a huge difference between stealing signs and a pitcher tipping his pitches. They got to David Price because he was tipping his pitches. Did they figure out something about deGrom? Maybe they did, but that's not cheating. Our scouts and coaches are top shelf at figuring out when the other team is telegraphing something.

I also read something where one of those douche****s accused us of being "Bandwagon Fans".

:shake:

One of my friends called from Manhattan about 20 minutes before Game 1 to discuss the Royals and Mets, the strengths and weaknesses and what to expect from each team. He was heading to a friend's restaurant where he had the back room entirely to himself and they'd serve dinner and drinks to him, alone.

The reason for this is because he didn't want to watch it at his apartment, alone, and wanted to be around people, but couldn't stand being around all these "new" Mets fans that knew absolutely nothing about the game of baseball.

Dummies.

Bowser 10-29-2015 03:04 PM

DeGrom and Dark Knight didn't strike out a combined 25 batters, so we are cheating.

People still don't get it...this team hits flame throwing, fastballers. We hit Harvey and DeGrom. DeGrom is actually lucky we didn't bash him out of the park by the 3rd.

Look at the pitchers that gave Royals fits this playoff year:

Keuchel
Price
Estrada

3 Guys who throw nasty, taint balls and locate. Not 98mph fastballs with the occasional slider.

The Royals would have a harder time hitting Chris Young than Jacob DeGrom. Might we lose to Syndergaard? We might. But I think if we do it might be more because of Ventura than Thor....

ChiTown 10-29-2015 03:26 PM

I think it could be due to the bats. They just put up 7 last night after going 14 the night before. It's the World Series in an opposing team's stadium with a fired up crowd and a very good pitcher.

All I'm saying is that it shouldn't surprise anyone but if the Royals do win, this series is all but over.

But in all honesty, a big part of me would like to see the Royals close it out at the K.

Yeah get it over with in NY. Everyone and their mother will see it, everyone will be at the parade, everyone in KC will feel the win without having to spend money to do it. Just finish them off. I have confidence in Game 6 if Cueto is throwing at home, and Ventura in 7 if it came to that, but just get it over with if you can.

All I'm saying is that it shouldn't surprise anyone but if the Royals do win, this series is all but over.

But in all honesty, a big part of me would like to see the Royals close it out at the K.

Win in 4 is what we all want. Just bring it home so the city can have some pride in one of their teams.
