I’ve heard the A’s to Portland also, in lieu of expansion in that city.

Not sure how well a “carpetbagger” franchise would do in the south. Seems li a new one might be better.

Also think Charlotte makes a ton of sense. Large city that is growing and has a big Baseball fan base. Less
Competition from college football for money and attendance, too.

I was thinking the same thing. Not on FSKC, not on MLB, not on ESPN obviously. Must be one of the few games a year they do not televise.

I've heard Portland in the mix for the A's as well, but MLB would rather have the expansion team since they have a potential ownership group in place.

Charlotte the problem is the city just built a new minor league park and funds aren't available for a new stadium.

Nashville has the same problem as Charlotte in that regard but the A's ownership group likes the city. It's the reason they put their Triple A team there instead of closer options.

Be interesting to see what takes place.

I would like the Royals to acquire the minor league team the Richmond Flying Squirrels. I bought there hat the other day, cuz it is awesome. Make the Dodgers give the Oklahoma City minor league team to us and rebrand them the Oklahoma City Flying Squirrels. Best mascot in all of sports. Ridiculous that OKC is a Dodgers affiliation. Need to get them more on board with Royals fandom before it's too late.

It is, but I feel like there is great opportunity to get most of Oklahoma on board as Royals fans after our World Series run and we didn't make the most of it. There is no reason Oklahoma City should be affiliated with the Dodgers. Either, Rangers or Kansas City.

Pull out of NW Arkansas, put them in OKC. Bet most of the people on NW Arkansas are Cards or Braves fans anyway.

That's not how it works there champ.

Oklahoma City is owned by one of the Dodgers ownership partners. That's why they have the affiliation and they have Tulsa as their Double A for ease of movement between the two.

Royals aren't going to pull out of Northwest Arkansas either with the Glass family ties and the ease to Omaha along with the corporate headquarters in that region.

Just keep thinking of Mahomes.

Nah. This team will get ALOT better when Salvy, Gordon, Bonifacio, Mondesi return and actual real bullpen guys come up. For god sakes the AAA bullpen was MUCH better than this one. Now, Mccarthy is up, Maurer is down. That should help a bunch. Now if they can punch Grimm in the nuts too.

I mean they still suck, but they shouldn't lose 100 games.

Jerok 04-18-2018 06:08 PM

Won't lose 100? Remember, we'll likely trade Moose and Herrera, and Duffy or others like Jay and Duda are possible too

2005 and it isn’t particularly close.

And still not as good a player as Moustakas, Duda, Perez, Duffy or Junis.

Jay is actually a pretty similar player to DeJesus.

Pitching rotation is night and day better, too. Duffy, Junis, Hammel, and Kennedy would all be the best starter on that 05 team by a fair amount.

Are you really trying to talk smack when not a single Royals fan could really care what this team does this year? Let me just remind you that before the last few years, the Blue Jays were the kings of mediocrity and have never done a single thing meaningful in the playoffs since before the Chiefs last playoff win before 2015.

The Royals are the worst team in baseball, but if my team routinely missed the playoffs or failed to succeed every year in the playoffs, the last thing I'd be doing is talking smack on another teams board just because they're bad.

Ah, suffering through a losing year or two comes with the territory in small markets. It’s easy to survive when you can think back to great moments from the most recent run...

Like when our lights out closer pitched out of a jam with a one-run lead, no outs, and the tying run on third base to cement the win and a key series.

Or like when we actually won the American League (twice).

Or like when we actually won the World Series.

Congrats on that AL east title and ALDS win. Nice participation trophies.

I think either Boyer or Grimm will be gone when Karns is activated.
And, Clay Buchholz has to be on the Royals MLB roster by May 1st or he can opt out.
That's two good excuses to get rid of them.

ChiefsCountry 04-19-2018 01:12 PM

Ned said earlier that he sees Karns as the 8th inning guy.

siberian khatru 04-19-2018 02:23 PM

I want to see Karns healthy before I start thinking of him as any kind of bullpen savior.

I'm nervous that the Royals seem to be slow-playing his injury, again.

April 7: The Royals had held out some hope that right-hander Nate Karns, on the disabled list with elbow inflammation, could have been activated by this weekend. That won't happen.

"He's getting closer," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He threw on the side today. We'd like to get that fluid out soon, just get him going. We need to get him going."

He's becoming Kyle Zimmer Jr.

What I"m saying is I think Milb and MLB is doing it wrong. You should always align your minor league teams (ESPECIALLY AAA and AA) to be in your region as a way to be able to reach fans in other nearby markets to coax them into becoming Royals fans.

BWillie 04-20-2018 04:18 PM

Just think of all the guys we get to trade in three months:
-Danny Duffy
-Mike Moustakas
-Lucas Duda
-Jason Hammel
-Salvador Perez
-Kelvin Herrera
-Clay Buchholtz
-Ian Kennedy
-Whit Merrifield
-Jon Jay
-Alcides Escobar

KEEP:
-Junis
-Mondesi
-Bonifacio
-Mccarthy
-Cuthbert
-Gordon (because we have to)

SHOOT IN THE DESERT:
-Maurer
-Boyer
-Grimm
-Almonte
-Goins
-Skoglund
-Birch Smith

Those guys should get us some decent shit to replenish our farm system. Almost best case scenario. Starting pitching doing well and guys like Whit, Moose who have value doing well. Tradable assets performing while our broke jagoffs in the pen blow it.

It would be “are doing it wrong”, not “is doing it wrong” since you’re addressing both the MLB and MiLB.

-Mccarthy

I bet.at most 4 of those guys get traded

Suddenly Jorge Soler is looking like one of our most promising prospects again.

500 AB's, Ned.

You would think they'd back into a win at some point

They did. Happy now?

Anybody hear anything on Adalberto Mondesí? He hasn’t been talked about much since Esky was re-signed and I didn’t know if we would see him in KC any this year. I bought an Mondesí custom jersey last year which may have been my mistake.

He’s rehabbing in extended spring training. Likely assigned to Omaha in a week. He hurt his non throwing shoulder during spring training.

If he performs well for a month or so in Omaha, I’d expect him to get a call-up and play every day, but he’s going to have to perform and show he’s overcome some of the focus issues the team was concerned about.

Duncan what do you think Moose will get if he keeps this up?
