So, is he the best or does he suck?

is that not RK-as in rank at the left? Sure looks like it says "player rank".

edit-it's a count of rows. Whatever, it's stupid. Ranking players on two games worth of statistics is dumb.

He's the best but he hasn't been playing like the best in the two games they've played.

I'm seriously confused why this is such a hard concept to grasp.

Do we need to shut down the forum until the end of the season in order to grade players? Can we not discuss games played anymore?

He's playing very well, actually, he just hasn't got the stats that show that. If you actually watch him, down after down, you'll see that.

The stats will come, because he's too good for them not to. I don't know why that's so hard for you to grasp.

So you see now why your Khalil Mack comparison wasn't the best comparison to make though right? He's been getting doubled and everything and yet still has 14 more pressures than him and more impact plays than him. I'm not even asking Clark to be Khalil...but he's played 2 backup tackles and a team with a backup QB. He should have dominated at least one of those games. He should have sniffed Minshew and Clark at least a few times.

And because you're hung up on this...HE DOESN'T SUCK! TWO GAMES ARE NOT A REFLECTION OF HOW THE WHOLE SEASON IS GOING TO GO! But he hasn't been worth his pay in the two games he's played.

How do you know he's the best if he hasn't been playing like it? Honest question.

Frank Clark isn't the first player to get double teamed. Why are expectations so low for him. He should have the highest expectations on this whole team. He needs to show up on both the stat sheet and show up in areas that aren't on the stat sheet.

Because of his history. He has played well enough in the past that we should all expect more than he's done the last two games. Which is why those games are really disappointing.

I guess the word of the day is expectations.

Halfcan 09-18-2019 01:37 PM

Jones is double-teamed all the time and he just smashes through "Freelances" and sacks the QB.

pugsnotdrugs19 09-18-2019 01:37 PM

Teams have been getting the ball out really quick against us (that’s what Carr and Minshew do apparently).

Clark needs to perform better.

Is what it is.

suzzer99 09-18-2019 01:43 PM

Everything is what it is.

ToxSocks 09-18-2019 01:52 PM

So far, he sucks.

Sorry.

Here, so i don't hurt any feelers....he's not playing up to the standards his compensation dictates.

He played against a back up LT vs Jville and did nothing but get gifted an INT off a deflection, and he did jack shit vs Oakland.

but hey, our run D looks better. But he's not paid $100M to just be a good run defender.

ShowtimeSBMVP 09-18-2019 01:53 PM

I don’t judge him on that dirt shit field slows all DL down

Ravens have a good o-line. Especially on the outside. Chiefs are going to have their hands full chasing Jackson around. (Yes, he's fast.) Hope Spags has a good plan for outside contain on Sunday.

We got on them last year by sending tons of heat. They are improved offensively but I still think the same scheme could work against them, Stanley is good but I think Brown could be had.

Hope you're right. Last year's game:

L. Jackson

C/ATT - 13/24
YDS - 147
TD - 2
INT - 0
Sacks - 2 (20yds)
QBR - 66.4

RUSH - 14 Carries for 67 yds, Long: 21

If I remember correctly it took us until the 4th Q to finally be aggressive with the pressure, but we started bringing 5-6 on a lot of plays in the 4th Q and OT and he started struggling and it led to the sack fumble that won the game.

They are improved though so looking at that might be the wrong move. Will be a good test to see if we’re really improved on defense this year or not.

IowaHawkeyeChief 09-18-2019 02:46 PM

I would much rather have Frank Clark than Dee Ford right now. Ford might have a couple of sacks as they would double Jones first, but they would also have gashed our right side C/D gap to frustrating levels.

Not seeing this as a problem really. Clark has compiled, not averaged, at least 10 sacks in the last three seasons. He'll get his sacks, and he'll get his average 'splash' plays by season's end. As others have said, sacks/splash plays come in bunches.

Derrick Thomas in the 1990 season had four games without a sack, and one game with less than one sack (0.5). That was the same season in which he set the NFL record for sacks in a game, on Nov. 11 1990, with seven.

Btw, the game before he only had one, and the two games after he didn't record a sack in either.

pugsnotdrugs19 09-18-2019 06:21 PM

Just saw practice photos from today—could tell that Clark is wearing an elbow brace again under his sleeves on the left arm.

I bet he never even had his UCLs repaired. Idk. Weird. Don’t like it.

But he wasn’t on the injury report.

Your memory is better than mine. My main memory about the end of the game is RGIII coming in. That and thinking that one high pass was going to be called interference. Not because it necessarily was, but because Chiefs in playoffs. :)

Is reading comprehension at an all time low? At no time have I said Clark sucks. But his two games this season have. I'm only talking about the two games we've seen. I'm not saying he sucks. I'm not saying he's going to be bad this season. But the past two games haven't been good. Same way I said Aaron Donald's 2 games haven't been good given his expectations.

I don't know how many more times or ways I can say that.

Not sure about Frank Clark (not individually paying attention to him), but Spags defense has been brilliant in this game.

They’re conceding the run to the Ravens and forcing them to try and beat them in the passing game. As good as the Ravens are at running the ball, he knows by just running they won’t be able to keep up with Chiefs offense (as we are already seeing).

They’re gonna HAVE to start passing in the 2nd half to catch up and that plays right into Spag’s gameplan. There will be a pick or 2 in the second half.

Again, absolute BRILLIANT ****ing gameplan by Spags! They’ve neutralized the Ravens strength.

TomBarndtsTwin 09-22-2019 12:47 PM

Sutton would never do something like this.

Thank God he’s gone!

kcjayhawks5 09-22-2019 12:48 PM

He’s not doing anything to write home about but it’s his 3rd game with us. Give it some more time. He will be fine! The defense is doing a hell of a job today so when he gets going we are going to be scary!

Meh the Ravens just stupidly abandoned the run when they've been slashing us all game. That 4th and 2 call was so stupid and its what broke the game apart.

TomBarndtsTwin 09-22-2019 01:06 PM

I say all that and then the rain ****s us with a bad snap.

Obviously, if the game stays close, this strategy by Spags will work less to our advantage.

No. He should have an impact every game. That's literally why he makes more than everybody on the team. If his impact is being double teamed then that's a waste of 100 million.

I don't even want to hear about run defense because we're still ****ing terrible at run D. We were allowing 6 yards per carry before this game, and I don't even want to know what that number will be after the game.
