I'm not even really pushing to draft the kid, just sayin'. |
Here's my run taking just the top player available on the board every single time and can't say I wouldn't mind it.
31. Kansas City Chiefs Alijah Vera-Tucker IOL, USC 63. Kansas City Chiefs Joe Tryon EDGE, Washington 94. Kansas City Chiefs Jabril Cox LB, LSU 136. Kansas City Chiefs Rodarius Williams CB, Oklahoma State 144. Kansas City Chiefs Seth Williams WR, Auburn 176. Kansas City Chiefs Shi Smith WR, South Carolina 180. Kansas City Chiefs Josh Imatorbhebhe WR, Illinois 252. Kansas City Chiefs Robert Rochell CB, Central Arkansas And then here's today's actual pickem 31. Kansas City Chiefs Zaven Collins LB, Tulsa 63. Kansas City Chiefs Josh Myers IOL, Ohio State 94. Kansas City Chiefs Tylan Wallace WR, Oklahoma State 136. Kansas City Chiefs Walker Little OT, Stanford 144. Kansas City Chiefs Rodarius Williams CB, Oklahoma State 176. Kansas City Chiefs Jonathon Cooper EDGE, Ohio State 180. Kansas City Chiefs Divine Deablo S, Virginia Tech 252. Kansas City Chiefs Marquez Stevenson WR, Houston |
Tried the player rankings instead of the predictive draft. Top of the board went really weird. For the record I'd rather trade out of the first than take the TE there. Tried taking BPA rather than reaching for a need and this is what I got
31. Kansas City Chiefs Brevin Jordan TE, Miami 63. Kansas City Chiefs Walker Little OT, Stanford 94. Kansas City Chiefs Payton Turner EDGE, Houston 136. Kansas City Chiefs Anthony Schwartz WR, Auburn 144. Kansas City Chiefs Chris Evans RB, Michigan 176. Kansas City Chiefs Monty Rice LB, Georgia 180. Kansas City Chiefs Bryce Hargrove IOL, Pittsburgh 252. Kansas City Chiefs Mac McCain III CB, North Carolina A&T |
Not that I have any control over it but I'd go off the deep end ranting about picking a TE in round 1. It's a ridiculous use of draft capital for a team that doesn't need a primary TE and doesn't operate enough out of 12 to warrant that type of investment.
|
I like Chris Evans a lot as a late-round RB target. Lot of upside there.
Yeah, Jordan that high would be tough to stomach (even Freiermuth would draw some questions). I love the rest of it, though. |
Did a lot of trade downs & came up with this:
51. Landon Dickerson OL Alabama 63. Amon-Ra St. Brown WR USC 94. Jabril Cox LB LSU 124. James Wiggins S Cincinnati 136. Walker Little OT Stanford 144. Elerson Smith Edge Northern Iowa 164. Josh Imatorbhebhe WR Illinois 176. Naquan Jones DT Michigan State 180. Shakur Brown CB Michigan State |

1st, Jalen Mayfield, Tackle Michigan
Don't expect him to make it to us, but if so, run in the card. 2nd, Chaz Surratt, Linebacker North Carolina KC gets a 3 down LB and now Willie Gay becomes a weapon we can use to blitz or drop in coverage. 3rd, Seth Williams, WR Auburn 6'3'' WR that can go get the ball and just pops talent wise. Not everything is perfect but a guy this big should not be able to run some of the routes he does. |
31.Gregory Rousseau
EDGE, Miami 63. Amon-Ra St. Brown WR, USC 94. Walker Little OT, Stanford 136. James Wiggins S, Cincinnati 144. Jack Anderson IOL, Texas Tech |
I just ran one on the draft network using their rankings board rather than predictive for the first time.
31. Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami 63. Javon Holland, S, Oregon 94. Landon Dickerson, C, Alabama (don’t like taking the injury concerns but the upside/value here is immense) 136. Austin Watkins, WR, UAB 144. Chris Evans, RB, Michigan 176. Josh Ball, OT, Marshall 180. Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas 224. Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina I felt like that draft ran a little better on their site than using their predictive board. I also would like this a lot for KC. |
40.
Zaven Collins LB Tulsa trade icon KC 63. Hamsah Nasirildeen S Florida State KC 71. Walker Little OT Stanford trade icon KC 94. Joe Tryon EDGE Washington KC 138. Cade Johnson WR South Dakota State trade icon KC 144. Osa Odighizuwa DT UCLA KC 176. Jamin Davis LB Kentucky KC 179. Jack Anderson OG Texas Tech trade icon KC 180. Trying this again
31. Jalen Mayfield - OT - Michigan 63. Chazz Surratt - LB - North Carolina 94. Hunter Long - TE - Boston College 136. Jonathon Cooper - EDGE - Ohio State 144. Dez Fitzpatrick - WR - Louisville 176. Kary Vincent Jr. - CB - LSU 180. Shaka Toney - EDGE - Penn State 252. CJ Verdell - RB - Oregon |
That looks very Veach-like, but I shouldn't have taken two EDGE guys with who we have now.

I'm probably an idiot for thinking it, but...
Is there any sense in thinking Trey Smith could move back to LT in the NFL? He was highly recruited as a LT coming out of high school. He was excellent as a LT in his first years at Tennessee. He was moved to G because he missed time with medical concerns. Could he slide back to his old position in the NFL? |

I've seen talk in some circles as a 1st rounder as a guard but I don't think that's a thing for him. If not for the blood clot issue, maybe. Day 2 somewhere, but I'm not so sure he's that great of a fit for a zone scheme. More of a power scheme player to me. |
31.
Gregory Rousseau EDGE, 63. James Hudson OT, 94. Hamsah Nasirildeen S, 136. Seth Williams WR, 144. Jonathon Cooper EDGE, 176. Cade Johnson WR, 180. Jack Anderson IOL, 252. Robert Rochell CB, |

I just did Profootballnetwork’s mock draft and their setup is more fun than TDN’s, with the inbound trade options. Plus, it’s kind of cool to get another set of player rankings and write ups.
@Direckshun, after you do 100 TDN mocks, do 100 PFN mocks and let’s see who we have the best odds of getting :D |
Like, look at what I just did in the first four rounds when accepting a trade back in round 1:
41. Jaelan Phillips EDGE Miami (FL) 63. Pat Freiermuth TE Penn State 88. Tylan Wallace WR Oklahoma State 94. Quinn Meinerz OC Wisconsin-Whitewater 136. Shi Smith WR South Carolina 144. Chuba Hubbard RB Oklahoma State Assuming Mitch and Fish come back, and we add in LDT and Niang, our offense would be so nasty. |
I've been thinking about doing some sort of average of 10 or so boards to see where it comes out. Maybe tomorrow or something. The rankings are so all over the place and some players look way out of line on various boards.
|
I guess Nixon has fallen out of favor, as he is more commonly available in the late 2nd. Works for me.
31. Jaelan Phillips DE 63. Daviyon Nixon DT 94. Nico Collins WR 136. Drake Jackson OC 144. Tre McKitty TE 176. Israel Mukuamu CB 180. Janarius Robinson DE |

^ I think that draft would pretty much satisfy everyone, right?
|
Not fond of Vera-Tucker in the first. I think teams will be all too happy to move him inside and think they got good value.
|
Hey serious question - have you guys done a mock at Profootballnetwork?
I cant tell if their rankings are off, or what, but I am absolutely crushing each draft I run - there's so much talent on the board each time we pick, which I think is the opposite of the TDN mock drafts. It's interesting to run them back to back and see how drastic the results are. |

In the one I just ran, Kyle Pitts was taken twice, once in the 1st, and again in the 3rd, so, that was odd.

PFN mock I just ran... I'd probably shit myself...

Yeah. A guy like Diablo or even Tyree Gillespie in the 5th or with the 4th comp pick would be awesome and could step in for Sorenson right away. Watch Gillespie’s tape against Alabama and Florida. Kyle Pitts had like 1 catch for 6 yards against Gillespie. Against Alabama, he had 3-4 “stops” stops of Najee Harris in the hole, (including a few goal line reps that saved TDs), and he also brought down Waddle multiple times in the open field (chasing to sideline/killing angle). And he isn’t a liability dropping into CF, either. I’m a Mizzou guy, but this isn’t Mizzou homer speaking. He was Mizzou’s best defensive player. Better than Bolton. |

If they're going to trade up into the top 15, I can't see them doing it for Parsons. It's so expensive.
In general, IMO, it only makes sense for one of the truly elite positions: QB WR DE OT CB There's not much they could do that would make me question their decision, but moving up to take Parsons would. |
Quote:
One more reason why I think they're much better off staying put at 31 or even trading down, not up. |
I traded up to 18 because Paye was still there.
|
Quote:
My memory seems to indicate the opposite, but I suppose over all trades in all rounds over 20, 30, 40 years, the AV argument holds. Obviously, more darts = more bullseyes. It seems like every time a team trades down, especially early, they come out the losers much more often than not. |
My latest, from PFN. I really like this:
36. (Trade down for 36 and 83) Jaelan Phillips, DE, Miami. This assumes I like his medical report. Taking a risk but it just fills what they need right away so we’ll. If his medicals are still worrisome, Ronnie Perkins slides in here. 63. Brevin Jordan, Te, Miami. The Chiefs 12 personnel gets an immediate upgrade here and also gets ramped up in usage in 21 as a result. 83. James Hudson, T, Cincinnati. I start planning for a post-Eric Fisher world and get a high-upside T who may also be able to sub for Eric Fisher from Day 1. I don’t love the idea of moving guys around, but if Fisher comes back strong, Hudson could slide in to LG and upgrade that spot while waiting to take over T full time in 22. 98. (Trade back 2 spots for 98 and 133). Tyree Gillespie, S, Missouri. I know, I know. Homer pick. But seeing someone I respect like Brett Kollman gush over him re-affirmed my belief he can be a real NFL star. Gillespie is a strong open field tackler who also has good tape against TEs (held Kyle Pitts to one catch for six yards). He gives KC a lot more juice, speed, and coverage ability in Sorenson’s role. 133. Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas. This is a versatile CB who fits KC’s outside corner profile. 144. Tamorrion Terry, WR, Florida State. I wait to take my X of the future and get a high-upside guy. Stock is down after a rough 2021 (bad situation) but his size/speed profile is DK Metcalf-lite. He may not start right away, but that’s OK getting him this late. Has the potential to become an elite threat in Years 2+. 256. Kayode Awosika, OL, Buffalo. Just a late-round flyer, but this small-school product has some real physical skill and was a nasty run blocker at T in college. Could be interesting if you put him inside. All-in-all, I would be excited about this haul. Nice blend of “now” contributors at key spots (DE, S), high upside for the future (WR, OT) and an upgrade at a key supporting position (TE). In FA, I’d need to handle C (either by retaining Reiter or signing another FA), supplement LB (likely with a SLB bandaid) and WR (someone I can plug at the X for a year while I see how Terry develops) but those are do-able. With Hudson, I likely also want a swing tackle I can roll with in case he isn’t ready to handle LT. |
Quote:
|
I absolutely LOVE Terry on day 3.
Like Robinson and other FSU prospects, he’s been the victim of playing on a really bad and borderline dysfunctional team. |
Trade downs!!
51. Daviyon Nixon 63. Josh Myers 74. D'ante Smith 94. Kenny Yeboah 136. Rodarius Williams 144. Sage Surratt 164. Janarius Robinson 176. Josh Imatorbhebhe 180. Israel Mukuamu |
Quote:
Then KC has Tyreek Hill, Terry, Darden, and Mecole plus Kelce. That's enough to mess people up real bad. |
Quote:
If we’re going to wait till day 3 on a WR, it would be smart to hedge our bets with an X and a slot guy, and if we hit on both, ohhhh boy. |
This isn’t Chiefs related but I’m doing another mock draft and the Jets gave up the following to go from 2 to 1 for Lawrence.
#2, #23, #34, a 2022 1st and a 2022 2nd. |
Quote:
But I think the Jets may have a chance to get the better player at 2. |

I think he's less explosive but a lot more polished and dangerous as a slot guy than Darden. |
