A underrated person in the KC Chiefs organization is Brandt Tillis

And keep in mind, we still (apparently) haven't adjusted Kelce, or extended Tyrann yet. Or Hill. We got ammo if we need it. |

Mahomes can nail receivers falling on his dick parallel to the ground, can only imagine how dangerous he would be in a clean pocket.

He's going to learn how to use CEH and the other RBs in the passing game more effectively now. In addition to all of the other badass shit he was doing before. It's game ****ing over, NFL. Thanks for playing. |

The timing of the Thuney signing suggest he was their target from the beginning. He wasn't plan B or anything of the sort. They're still working on the tackle position but make no mistake, the timing of this deal suggest Thuney was their prime target all along. |

Don't get me wrong, not complaining about this guy at all... just wasn't the move I was expecting, but if Veach and co wanted to get LG locked down first who am I to judge |
It makes so much sense to empty the piggybank this offseason when everyone is cash strapped, but the cap is going to go up a bunch the next couple of years.

the other is very much still on the board. |
Veach is hungry.

Jan. 2019-damn this defense sucks. Veach: **** this guy, **** this guy, **** this guy, **** this coordinator, **** this staff, give me this guy, this guy, this guy, and these coaches.
Feb. 2020-that went pretty great. Let's bring all these mother****ers back together. Feb. 2021-Veach: What the **** is this offensive line bullshit? **** this guy, **** this guy, **** this guy, give me this mother****er, and that mother****er, and let's draft a couple more mother****ers so that shit doesn't happen again. |

I've seen hundreds of comments about how we had to let go of Fish and Schwartz because Mahomes demanded the highest contract in NFL history. I've seen comments of people saying "Patty Mahomes about to fall short a couple hundred" after he restructured his contract. I've seen comments about how selfless Brady is for restructuring his contract and how Mahomes is just doing it now because Brady did. I mean.. people are just insanely ****ing dumb. |

It's gonna be so awesome to watch what CEH can do when there aren't 2 guys in the backfield when he receives the hand off...

A trade for Dillard can't be done until the start of the league season. Might explain the quick signing of Thuney instead of a free agent LT.

Arguably the 2nd best OG in the NFL behind Nelson with Thuney being more athletic but less powerful. I couldn't be more thrilled.
Certainly brings into question signing Williams, which would be quite the feat at this point, but if they do that opens up a ton in the draft to just go get playmakers. |

The dude has never missed a game in his career and in the last 3 years has given up like 3 sacks and only 3 penalties. It's a HUGE upgrade. |

This seems like a very wise move for us.

Thuney is a great pickup though. Very encouraging move. |
Begs the question, what is most important for a Patrick mahomes OL? We don't have a great record without Eric fisher but is that because fishers backups have been atrocious? Seems to me our biggest weakness has been complete inability to run the ball in short yardage and when the pocket pushes into mahomes especially considering how much he drifts. Not to mention all the tipped passes this year. So I like focusing on the interior.
Now that we have a really solid interior how important are the tackles? Are they must haves or can we settle for decent? |

Now, I do think Niang is a sleeping giant at RT. I don't think people realize just how good he was before that hip injury in college. That basically leaves LT and a solid swing tackle. If they get a good FA LT, they can take a guy like Walker Little to develop in round 3 and he can be a swing guy for a couple of years. If they can't get a top-shelf LT in FA, then I think you look to get a good swing guy there and then go after a LT in the draft. Either way, Reid requires tackles that can play in space. |
Quote:
Can take that two ways. Maybe a great interior gets mahomes to trust his pocket more. Or, if his permanent tendency is to drift are we always going to put our OTs in a tough spot regardless of who we put out there. I'd agree we need above average tackles... But do we need elite ones now that we have this kind of an interior? |
Quote:
Tackle is the gold standard for OL in this league; but carving out an online built differently to suit a unicorn isn't necessarily the worst idea... I'm not jumping on any theories just yet but I appreciate the idealistic hope, and I still am holding out for silver sleeves or whatever his name is |

I think Andy thought he could get away with average guard play but had seen enough.
This offense badly needs quick pass, screens, playaction. Arguably the guard is more important. Not to mention that a lot of CEHs best running is up the gut. We saw how little confidence Reid had regular season when he refused to run against Tampas interior. Tampa annihilated us with stunts. Great defenses slide pass rushers like Aaron Donald inside. I used to be have guard really low on my list but it sure seems like so much of what mahomes needs right now. We need a short game more than we need long pass pro tight now. |
Dude is playing for less than $1m base this year.
For one of the best in the game. Veach is a total badass. |
Quote:
His tag number is 4.7 Which is still good but where did you get less then 1 million dollars? |
Quote:
I wouldn't be surprised if we traded up for a tackle now. |

I hope the Chiefs aren't planning on sliding Thuney out to tackle. He's played there before but i would rather not count on him there now. You generally want to move people in, not out. CB to Safety, OT to Guard. |

I didn't. Thuney plays multiple positions, so yes, i hope that we don't plan on playing him at OT. |
