No Big 12 team should be ranked in the Top 15 in the last 15 years. It is, by far, the most overrated conference in football.

Eh it’s pretty normal under CMC, just come out with a win. UNI tends to give Iowa a game as well. CMC tends to win when it matters most, October-December.

Good luck next week.

As Chiefs fans, I’m sure you understand not having Kelce(and previously Gonzalez) can kind of hinder the offense. That’s what we are missing in All-American Kolar today. Ironically he was out week 1 last year too.

So much for covering that +19.5 point spread, JFC. ROFL

tk13 09-04-2021 04:13 PM

Not that Doug Marrone was a great NFL coach, but he coached for two different teams and had a couple winning seasons and a deep playoff run, was legitimately a few minutes away from a Super Bowl with a double digit lead before getting Brady'ed. Now he's a position coach for Alabama. I didn't even realize that. Not even a coordinator but a position coach. Saban's stacking up NFL coaches to go along with NFL players.

Yes since 2006.

The main problem is all of that elite high school talent from South Florida is playing for the likes of Alabama, Clemson, etc.

Great coach doesn't do that against a rebuilding UNI squad. Maybe Mark Farley is the "great coach" in this situation.

Sometimes a team will just show up thinking they can put on minimal effort and it's a cake walk win.

Bama avoids that shit because the team is loaded with 4's and 5's to keep jobs in jeopardy and Saban will ****ing explode when it's 69-0. Iowa State? Not so much.

Doing that against UNI is ****ing awful though LMAO

I did. As I have every Iowa State UNI game(well in my lifetime since watching football), they typically always play Iowa and Iowa State close. CMC typically always starts off slow at Iowa State for whatever reason. All that matters is they won.

UNI was picked to finish FIFTH in our conference. Not nationally, but in our CONFERENCE. We lost a ton of talent to transfer and the NFL. We're hurting pretty badly and shouldn't be much early in the season.

Iowa State simply stinks. They'll probably be fine in the big 12, but they're honestly not very good at all.

I'm certainly not arguing that we "should have won" or whatever. It's quite the opposite. A decent team should have throttled us.

ISU is not a decent team.

It’s bigger than just the HC situation… which has no doubt been mediocre/awful since Butch Davis left.

Miami had a confluence of occurrences during their 20 year run of winning 5 NC’s that will be difficult to consistently replicate.

They had basically their pick of talent from the “State of Miami” (high schools in South Florida up to Orlando) and they were able to recruit top-level QB’s from out of state because they were one of the few college programs that was utilizing a pro-style passing offense in the ‘80’s and early ‘90’s (for example they landed Jim Kelly from Western Pa because Penn State was recruiting him for a non-QB position).

This week, they weren’t that good. Which unfortunately is normal for Iowa State in September. How the game went is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, all that matters in the end is if they won or lost. They won.

We lost to freaking Louisiana week one last year, and were still #6 going into the conference championship game. Then throttled Oregon in a NY6 bowl. You think I’m worried about beating UNI?

Fair enough but Campbell has only been a national name for a year or so. Hes gonna send a few more guys to the league this year too so another season like last year and those recruiting numbers should improve. Those recruiting rankings however arent everything. Texas,Nebraska, Tennessee, UCLA, A&M ect are always putting up 25 classes and the results haven't been there.

Campbell would be foolish to take a job that's not OSU or Bama level at this point. Hes already making 4 mil and has job security and a competitive program.

I think Campbell will be more motivated to take an offer elsewhere once Oklahoma and Texas leave the conference.

I'm not sold on the rumored incoming replacements being enough to keep the conference relevant to the CFP.

Doesn't mean he's packing his bags for Arkansas, but a Michigan or Penn State would be more interesting than it would be without conference apocalypse.

I'm not sure if it's agreeing or disagreeing, but KState has won the Big 12 over OU/Texas/etc and was twice 1 win away from a shot at the national title. Also with lower ranked recruiting classes. They never actually did it, but that's a pretty high ceiling.
