It was definitely up there.

Having witnessed my team reach the pinnacle of success I no longer view non-conference games as important - because they're not. Every win you can get is important but they're not indicators of anything, more valuable, or some kind of weighted metric that portrays a valuable insight.

We'll likely lose a close game because Andy likes to hide a lot of his playbook until the end of the season or the playoffs. Andy realizes it's only one game and if anything is less valuable or meaningful than a conference or division win. Fans love it and us degenerate gamblers love it but that's all it is.

I'd predict a 4-7 pt loss while the defense plays amazingly well for an amazingly vanilla game plan defensively. Spags will likely blitz but not do much Philly hasn't already seen.

I hope the WR's play well, the line blocks well, and nobody gets hurt. Other than that I can't say I really much care about this week.

That and my best friend who's also my bookie is visitng family for the next 3 weeks so there's only so much I can care without any skin in the game. And no matter how bad we were to lose I've got 3 SB's of memories that can't bring me down....

Couch-Potato 11-20-2023 04:50 PM

ESPN says Eagles have a better OL, but the statistics they presented suggest otherwise?

Which offensive line has been more dominant this season?
Seth Walder, analytics writer: Though the Chiefs rank first in pass block win rate (77.4%) and the Eagles fifth (64.9%), I would say Philadelphia has the better overall offensive line. That's because the Eagles are much better in terms of run blocking, where they rank first (76.6%) in win rate compared to the Chiefs at 19th (70.0%).

Then there is the Chiefs' penalty problem (hello, Jawaan Taylor). They commit holding on 2.6% of their plays (second-highest rate in the NFL) compared to the Eagles at 0.5% (lowest). Lastly, that the Eagles can execute the tush push with such a high rate of efficiency is no trivial matter, and while Hurts plays a big role in that play, the offensive line does, too.

What is the secret to the Eagles' tush push?
McManus: It's part technique -- the ground game is orchestrated by two of the best in the game in offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and center Jason Kelce -- and part brawn, with guard Landon Dickerson (6-foot-6, 332 pounds) and tackles Lane Johnson (6-6, 325 pounds) and Jordan Mailata (6-8, 365 pounds) leading the charge. And it certainly helps to have a quarterback who is a former powerlifter and can squat 600 pounds in Hurts.

Put that all together, and you have a play that is borderline unstoppable, with Philadelphia converting 20 of its 22 attempts (91%) when needing one yard. The Eagles have also scored six touchdowns on sneaks this season, while the rest of the NFL has six combined.

Couch-Potato 11-20-2023 04:51 PM

ESPN is ALSO claiming that the Eagles Defense is better despite the statistics presented indicated Chiefs are ahead?

The Chiefs are tied for third in the NFL with 31 sacks on defense. Is their pass rush actually better than the Eagles this season?
Walder: No, no, no. While the Chiefs have one more sack than the Eagles' 30, Philadelphia has superior pass rush overall. Led by players like Haason Reddick, Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter, Philadelphia has a 53.7% pass rush win rate (fifth best) -- compared to the Chiefs way down at 35.5% (27th).

So why do the Chiefs have more sacks, even if it's a slight difference? One reason is that they use blitzes and simulated pressures at higher than average rates, and both are effective tools. Kansas City has recorded a 9.9% sack rate when blitzing and 15.1% sack rate using simulated pressure this season. Don't get me wrong, they deserve credit for the sacks and the schematics. But if you're looking for the best pass rush in this game, it will be wearing green.

The Eagles pass defense sucks. It's not only not as good but objectively not good and that's really piss poor considering how effective their pass rush often is.

They also like to beat up on JV teams and inflate their stats. I'm glad we got ta' do a little of that this yer.

I'm doing an objective analysis, and I think we're better at:

Running back
Quarterback
Wide Receiver
Tight End
Tackle
Guard
Center
Safety
Cornerback
Linebacker
Defensive End
Defensive Tackle
Kicker
Punter
Long snapper
Kick Returner
Punt Returner
Kick and punt coverage
Kick and punt protection
Fan base

The Eagles are better at:

Being close to the ocean.

Hammock Parties 11-20-2023 05:07 PM

Jalen Hurts is 20-2 when leading the Eagles to 27+ points.

Both losses are to Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Hammock Parties 11-20-2023 05:08 PM

Patrick Mahomes is 27-1 in games where the O/U is a total < 49

Tonight's game is 45.5.

The loss was 24-9 in Denver a couple weeks ago.

Funny how the field sucked in last year's SB, largely negating both defensive lines... and they've had this marked on their calendar for months just to have something similar happen.

I'd love this to be one of those 1 or 2 games a year Andy decides to run the football (20-25 carries.) Pacheco is ready to carry this offense should we choose to put it on his shoulders.

Hell, if anything we should whip out the old Jamal Charles offense and run it through him anyway. He's got big play potential and he's a physical runner.

That's not a comment on her attractiveness, which from the neck down is solid, but not my favorite.

Less than 1 hr to kickoff!

I'm sure tonight will be fun, but damn, these games are miserable. I went to that Titans game that was 0° at kick off and I'd rather deal with bitter cold than 40 and raining.

Kelce’s mom in the house. Got her dual team SB shirt back from the HOF, on loan for this game. Says this is the happiest she’s ever seen Trav. :hmmm: LFG!

I remember going to Arrowhead with my Dad when I was a tike. We were playing the Bears. It was cold and raining. I was miserable. It was also windy as all get out. A guy in front of us was buying peanuts and he attempted to hand the vendor a $20. That was a LOT of money back then. The wind caught it and the bill floated, majestically, end over end, all the way out on to the field. I recall people jumping as high as they could to try and catch it, but alas, it was just out of everyone's reach. Of course, my father took the opportunity to explain to me that this is why you don't produce large denomination bills out of your wallet on a windy day. In that moment, I reminded him that he did not bring rain gear for us to wear and the small child he was attempting to give sound monetary advice to was now soaked all the way through his coat AND his clothes and I was experiencing hypothermia. He made me watch the rest of the first half because "Chiefs tickets don't grow on trees." Yet more sound financial advice. We left at halftime.
