I agree with this, but I’m guessing the owner response would be something akin to “it’s a slippery slope.” (Ie, how many other players are just *this* close to incentives who are now going to ask for them?)

I made a comment in that thread that he apparently cared more about $ than winning and it still stands true. Why else go to Tennessee of all teams?

It worked out amazingly though, we won the SB last year, then got Hopkins way cheaper for most of this season.

xztop123 01-02-2025 12:56 PM

It’s not like we’re walloping teams in playoffs.

We’re winning in same fashion. Come backs and close victories.

It’s more like we adjust our level of play relative to the team we face than it is we use regular season as practice.

This is apparently the first time he’s made it past the Divisional Round lol

I’m sure he wishes he contributed more but it’s probably nice to still be in play for a Super Bowl ring.

Bowser 01-18-2025 08:11 PM

He was out there. He must be really injured because I thought they'd turn up his snaps in the playoffs but he was still rotating in and out all game

KCUnited 01-18-2025 08:14 PM

Unless he’s fast enough to run a jet sweep he’s not getting many targets with a guard playing tackle and a future shoe salesman playing guard

I'm a D Hop guy. Love him. But I didn't notice him so thought I'd ask the question before the snap counts comes out tomorrow

Texans CBs are excellent.. There was a third down in the first half where Pat was talking to DHop in the huddle and I knew the play was coming to him.. DHop was blanketed and Patrick took a sack..

Lol. Yeah, can you imagine how much better we'd be right now if we still had Allegretti to fill in Thuney's spot?

However, Caliendo is a free agent this offseason, and there's a reasonable chance some team is stupid enough to give him enough money to get us a 7th round comp pick.

That'll do, pig. That'll do.

Sorry didn't mean to downvote. Agree Pat was rattled by the pass rush and rate time to look down field. Not Mahomes best though either

For sure

We can probably put to rest the jizzing over [insert literally any WR name] midseason pickup with Pat’s trust issues

Fortunately his connection with Kelce is still intact

I thought the same but apparently his snap count in Tennessee was even lower than it has been here.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-18-2025 09:45 PM

Disappointed to not see him more involved today but as long as we’re winning…

Maybe it was a matchup thing. Either way it won’t surprise me to see him flash more in the games ahead.

At least the reason for his dip in production is largely because our rookie has taken flight.

Justin Watson needs more snaps

ThaVirus 01-19-2025 09:25 AM

I get the sense that they didn’t think this game could go sideways, and they were mostly right, but 16 snaps is not enough.

Bowser 01-19-2025 09:27 AM

JuJu had more snaps than Hop. Didn't see that one happening.

NJChiefsFan 01-19-2025 09:28 AM

Why is juju getting more snaps? Different role? I can't imagine they trust him more. Id be interested in the red zone passing snaps for him.

RealSNR 01-19-2025 09:31 AM

Also lol Joshua Williams plays well in a starting role and then gets turned back into special teams meat

16 snaps for Hopkins is baffling. Hollywood got a decent amount but expect more next week. Juju shouldn't have more snaps. Make it make sense

Juju is a great blocker as well. That’s probably a part of why he got more snaps. Can’t believe Hollywood had 34 snaps. Was only targeted once. Either Hollywood, and Hopkins just can’t beat their coverages, or they’re just not a big part of the gameplan.

Wisconsin_Chief 01-19-2025 09:58 AM

We thought they were saving this guy for something and trying to keep the compensation low, but it turns out he just isn’t that good anymore and/or Andy just has little use for him. Can’t say I’m surprised, it’s always what happens when we bring these veteran dudes in during the season.

Hope we have enough next week.

I get we’re not allowed to question them, but if they play Johnson over Williams again next week and it costs us big like it very well could, shit is going to hit the fan over that one. It makes zero sense and there simply isn’t justification for it.

Kman34 01-19-2025 11:07 AM

Hmmm.. There may be a reason Kelce had a big day.. Maybe the Texans with their elite corners decided to take away our WRs?? Hmmmm.. Bad move on their part..

ghak99 01-19-2025 11:15 AM

His body language seems awfully telling. He might just be used up, who knows.

I'd sure like to see him make at least one big highlight reel catch deep in the end zone or on the sideline where you know only a guy like him was capable of bringing it in while keeping his toes off the line.

Rainbarrel 01-19-2025 11:24 AM

He signed a two year 26 million dollar deal with the Titians. His Chiefs' cap hit is 1/10th that. Maybe it fair play for pay

Not washed. Hollywood didn’t do anything either. Is he washed? Texans defense dictated what we could do. We just decided to take what was there with our oline situation and not press things, Texans defense been feasting on turnovers lately and that’s what we were avoiding.

Coach 01-19-2025 02:54 PM

I think people are underappreciating the Texans DB's as to how good they really are, which effectively neutralized the receivers.

Their weakness was the middle of the field, and Travis being Travis exploited that. Not too concerned about the WR's being little to non-existent.

Or maybe another consideration should be taken is that they respect Hop and/or Hollywood too much, that allowed Travis to have the one-on-one matchups? Either way, it's pick your poison.

Eh, chiefs had the least amount of passing yards against the Texans since week 8 when they faced the Anthony Richardson colts. The passing offense was awful yesterday, no excuses.

Hollywood was open on that first drive Mahomes missed the throw. Hollywood also dropped a 60 yard pass too. Hopkins was invisible because hes at the end of the road

ya Stingley was all pro and I guess they just locked our WR's down. Pat only completed passes to 4 people, Worthy being the only receiver to do anything at all.

But Kelce was open, that probably factored into that.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-19-2025 05:24 PM

It’s very clear they want the speed of Worthy and Brown out there as much as possible.

But it’s odd that Hopkins played less than JuJu. Hope he’s ok.

Bump 01-19-2025 05:27 PM

It is odd that he didn't play much at all.

I respectfully disagree. Houston has elite cornerback duo of Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter as well as the edge rushers of Anderson Jr. and Hunter. The Chiefs instead went to pick on slot cornerback Myles Bryant and linebackers To'oTo'o and Al-Shaair.

It was a great game plan, and it was conditional on having an elite pass-catching tight end, which Kelce is.

I just think they like Hollywood and Worthy more than him. I think they love JuJus (and Watsons) blocking to have him in on alot of plays where he isn't the top option.

There is no reason to believe he is injured. And it is a disservice for the media to keep citing his grade 2 MCL tear from October. A grade 2 MCL tear is a 4 to 6 week injury and does not usually need surgery. Its possible he injured something else but his MCL probably healed long ago.

He's either hurt or cooked.

He was a hail mary anyway. Brown is the difference maker. Wonder if you could get him back for $10 million?
