After this game, the Royals will trade Mike Montgomery for Joe Mather and make him their setup man.

Sadly true, but not as funny as Posnanski.

But possibly more painful.

Keith Law's a national guy that just used this game as a chance to take a shot at a team not even remotely involved in it (or nationally relevant).

Ouch.

4-8-28 can only be rivaled by the Pujols' hit and run in the bottom of the 19th.

Oh. My. God. Has La Russa ever seen Albert Pujols play before?

keithlaw

This game should be over, and the fact that it's not is directly on La Russa.

DeezNutz 04-17-2010 09:43 PM

Hillman's idiocy is no longer in play for Cardinals fans.

Barnyard LaRussa went full himself this evening.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-17-2010 10:17 PM

CoMo could have done a better job of managing the last 5 innings of that game.

McWickedson 04-17-2010 10:44 PM

TLR is the most overrated manager in the history of MLB. That was the worst managed game that I have ever seen, and that's saying something.

McWickedson 04-17-2010 10:51 PM

..and the lineup flat out SUCKS. They'll make the playoffs, but it will be a short visit.

You have what is maybe the best RH of all time at the plate in his prime, under no circumstances do you take away a chance for him to win the game with one swing. Hittting and running with a pitcher on deck was asine.

LaRussa is great at getting the most out of platoon players. Maybe the best I've ever seen at that.

He also has Dave Duncan, one of the greatest turd polishers in MLB history.

Aside from that, the guy is horrendous. The VP of Common Sense would have killed him long ago.

I get very frustrated with his over management of games, like last nights game:mad: but you can't complain about the results. Larussa consistently gets his teams to overperform their natural talent level.

Was it dumber than double-switching the pitcher into the 4 slot in your lineup?

I simply cannot wrap my mind around the fact that this dipshit actually pulled a double-switch with his 2nd best hitter and used the pitchers spot to protect the most feared hitter in baseball.

I'm half tempted to investigate the man for betting against the Cardinals last night.

DJ's left nut 04-18-2010 08:45 PM

Worst stat I've heard thus far this season:

Albert Pujols -- 7 hits with runners in scoring position.
David Freese -- 5 hits with runners in scoring position.

The rest of the MFing team -- ONE HIT WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION!

That's all we got is one goddamn hit?!?!? /Harry Doyle
