181 pounds, the fat loss gods mock me.

Still, my lowest adult weight ever. I'll take it.

FASTING FTW!

Now it's time for donuts.

I'm really tired right now. Maybe I'll understand better tomorrow, but I don't think your question made a whole lot of sense.

So, you want to gain 4 lbs of maybe muscle, maybe not, but you want to do it lifting twice a week? I don't get it.

Just concentrate on the areas you want to gain muscle and lift them heavy and often.

What is your definition of heavy and often?

Silock 08-01-2010 08:13 PM

Heavy is relative, but anywhere from 5-8 reps (so that you pretty much won't be able to do another rep on the last rep of the last set), 3-5 sets, often being 3 times per week.

Lifting this morning, followed by an hour of yoga.

Parents were in town this weekend. Took them to Bern's for their anniversary. Yoga tomorrow and much healthier eating throughout the week.

Other than flexibility, can someone please fill me in on the benefits of yoga?

Silock 08-02-2010 02:20 PM

Muscular endurance and balance. Both of which are helpful for lifting and sports. A lot of yoga classes do a LOT of core work. And I'm a big fan of static core holds, which yoga excels at. Builds a great core if you do it right.

And maintaining flexibility is one of the keys to a long lifting life. The older you get, the less flexible you are, which leads to increased susceptibility to injury.

It's just helpful all-around.

Had a fitness test yesterday and hurt myself. :( Also found out I suck at distance running more than I thought I did.

Distance running isn't really important anyway, unless you just like doing it. You get a better calorie burn from sprint/walk/sprint.
