There are lots of studies on them for distance runners in particular, and they don't work.

OK, well, cool. Thanks man...saved me a lot of money.

Oh well. It's time to get back on the horse.

Get out there and run. Be Awesome.

Great news! I actually got up at five this morning and went to the GYM! Okay, not earth shattering.... but getting switched over to going to the gym in the morning is hard for me. I missed a workout Monday. I went last night and then I went this morning. Now, I have someone I am supposed to meet every morning at the gym and I think that is the motivation that I needed.

I also rode for three miles with my youngest daughter yesterday evening. All in all a pretty active day. Still haven't gotten a good bike to ride to work on. Considering pedaling my Huffy there today.

Oh, and for food, I am having a banana and a protein bar.

I've been running 6 miles a time about 3-4 times a week. I've recently started adding a longer run in the mix, been running 12+ miles once a week. Should I be worried about eating something special before a long run, drinking sports drinks, or what? I've just been taking 30+ oz of water on these runs and the last 2 miles are killer. Wondering if I need some electrolyte replenishment with Gatorade or something rather than just water.....

Within 2 hours of a workout I try to only consume water or fruit.

You'll do fine. I haven't lost but maybe a couple pounds the last 2 months, mainly due to watching my calories during the week but relaxing it during the weekend, which obviously isn't working very well.

However my belt has gotten looser, my clothes are fitting better, and i'm getting stronger (lifting, running)...so my hope is things are just evening out.

Has anyone ever tried a kettlebell workout for strength conditioning?

Two of the guys in my MMA class swear by these and while I normally think the end result is just a matter of preference be it kettlebell, free weights or nautilus both these guys are in their mid 40s and manage to choke, flip or tap out on a regular basis.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Don't look back. What you've been doing the past few weeks doesn't matter; you can't change it. Focus on going forward. You know how good you feel when you're exercising and eating right. That's the place you want to be.
