Self lost like 75% of the scoring from the title team and only two newcomers really contributed at all, yet he molded them into yet another 1 seed and won the best conference in the country outright. And if he'd coached in the tourney, they're in the S16. It's fairly likely it would have ended there, because Uconn's a bad matchup and might win the whole thing, but who knows, because Self's great when he has that much time to prepare and dissect a team.
Solid year overall. Not going to bemoan the tourney loss much because there were too many holes to expect this team to reach the final four or win it all. Time to reload. If things fall into place like I expect them to, I think they might field a better team next year. A team that doesn't have to start a 6'7 guy who can't rebound at center, with a more balanced and versatile offense and deeper bench. I'm expecting some big-time transfers to commit soon. |

We had the least depth of any KU team I’ve ever seen, had no Self for the most crucial portion of the season, and there were at least a half dozen teams better than us this year (and maybe more). We still had a legitimate chance to win it all despite all of that, but we needed luck and a much better bracket than we got from the committee to do it. Having a 8 seed that should/could have been a 4 seed and a 4 seed that should/could have been a 1 seed in our path was certainly not that.
They could very easily be better next year but they’ll need shooting/scoring on the transfer portal. A lot of it. |

In 2021, it was obvious we needed a guard who could go get a bucket on his own. Garrett was never that guy. Harris would never reliably be that type of player. He nailed it with Remy Martin, and we don’t win it all without that. Self will find the guys he needs. We already have the athletes. We just need the skill guys and shooters. Those guys have low ceilings, so they stick around college basketball and many of them still have a Covid year to use. The transfer portal sets up nearly perfectly to fill our needs. |
I’m guessing that Yesufu was slightly nudged toward the door? He told reporters after the loss that he was “definitely” coming back to take care of unfinished business.

I don't think there was anything subverted. Self isn't that dude. |
Possible stretch 5 from the portal?

Would have to borrow Self's Stents' after his first practice. |
Do we want half of the Big 12 reppin the final 4?

I can’t imagine how annoying K-State fans would be if they somehow won it all, but I don’t see that happening. |
I mostly don’t want UCONN winning it all.
It’s pretty gross how such an up and down program can win this tournament so many times, when other programs are much more consistently competitive. Some of the teams they’ve won it with have been pretty average too. Just had a guard go crazy at the right time. Kemba and Shabazz. |

Also only idiots bash the B12, all the pundits praise it in the media. And had tech held on up 3 with 8 to go vs. Virginia B12 would have last 3 winners and the two clear faves the Covid year |
Nah **** Texass for abandoning the Big12 and I won't root for KSU because you think they were cheering for KU last year?
I'm also not some secsecsec inbred. |

i'm watching the KSU games because Nowell is fun to watch. If they take it all, it would be pretty cool that B12 has 3 consecutive and the state of Kansas has 2 in a row. I can't get too enthused about TX tho.
