Well, I guess the Rockies had to slump sooner or later.

:)

Congrats Red Sox Fans. I have to admit I am jealous of the Boston sports teams.

Well, for a couple of years anyway, small market midwestern teams beat back the game destroying bloated payroll east coast pricks and comprised both sides of World Series for the rest of us.

Unfortunately, it can't always happen. :(

In some alternate universe, I am Jonathan Papelbon and I just won the World Series with a strikeout.

It won't take Theo Epstein long to fuck that team up, don't worry.

Take a look at his FA moves and trades. Take away the unlimited payroll and that guy couldn't hold the jock of 20 other MLB GMs

This was like watching an inspirational sports movie where the underdogs make it to the state championship and then get blown out 63-0.

Yeah, but there a bunch of pissed off, disheartened people in Denver right now.

:)

You gotta love Boston fans.

They have the second-winningest franchise in Sports History (the Celtics) and all the town did for years was bitch about how bad they had it.

If you are a 45 year old Boston fan (and you've been watching sports since you were say...6) you've seen:

Two Stanley cups, four total appearances

Two WS wins, four total appearances

7 NBA titles, 9 NBA Finals

3 Lombardi Trophies, 5 total Super Bowls.

That's a tortured fan base

Even then, the final four consisted of Colorado, Arizona, and Cleveland... who had 3 of the 8 lowest payrolls in baseball. That's incredible. And the Indians didn't lose because the Red Sox spent more money than them, they just choked.

The Sox are going to start to unravel in game 5. Mark my words.

Rockies in 9.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-28-2007 10:34 PM

FWIW, it's looking like Chris Antonetti, one of Shapiro's consiglieres in Cleveland, may be the front runner for GM of the Cards.

kcpasco 10-28-2007 11:56 PM

So does Wakefield get a ring? He is like the only player on the Sox that I like.

Never saw this moronic post.

If you're (like me) a 35'ish year old fan, then you'd REMEMBER 3 NBA Championships, years of Patriots humiliation and Red Sox choke jobs, and a Bruins team that couldn't get over the top with Bourque and Neely.

By the late 90s, the Celtics sucked, the Patriots were respectable but not doing much, and the Bruins were even worse. Red Sox were contenders with individual stars, but no championships.

The last 7 or so years, of course, have more or less made up for everything, especially Pats fans.

But don't act like we didn't go through a 25 year drought outside of basketball, however. We had contenders now and again, but no champs, and as often as not the contenders got humiliated at the end (Buckner, Patriots v. Bears, etc.).
