The Chiefs are working under overcast skies with warm temps. They're not wearing pads, making it the first day in this year's camp where they haven't worn pads for at least one practice.

The Chiefs have changed long snappers, bringing back Thomas Gafford, who snapped for them last season. They released rookie Tanner Purdum, who played at Baker University.

The Chiefs offense spent time this afternoon running plays against a scout team that was simulating Houston's defense. The Texans are the Chiefs opponent in their pre-season opener on Saturday.

So is Boone beating Magee? I heard Magee was doing good. And will Mays be the starter this season and Thomas just plays a few plays?

Williams could climb up the depth now that hes healthy. Or they could go with Biesel... but so far Mays has been pretty impressive so it wouldn't surprise me.

I wouldn't expect Magee to start unless Dorsey is a bomb all year. Boone is good for depth this year because he does fit the transition..

Honestly several of those guys may be able to fit but the Ron Edwards at NT one is pretty scary.

I noticed Dorsey isn't starting either. Magee is suppose to be more of a 3-4 D-end then Dorsey so it wouldn't be a surprise. Also it seems possible Zach Thomas won't be on the team come the start of the season, I mean if Mays is playing good Thomas looks expendable.

Dude Ron Edwards is a perfect nose tackle. He's a huge fat ****. Are you kidding me?

I think Boone starting is bad news for Dorsey...

Edwards is a solid backup not really a starter especially if you want a good 3-4 defense.

But he doesn't exactly play like a huge fat ****. He was in Buffalo's cover 2 then signed over here with Herm playing the cover 2.

Ron Edwards is a very broke mans Sam Adams, he's not a run stopper, at his best his game is quick penetration He's generaly lazy, and gets knocked out by indivudal blockers cause he plays too high.

In 04 the Bills had the #7 run defense in the league. Pat Williams leaves. Ron Edwards who had 4 sacks in 04 takes over as the full time starter and the Bills run defense goes from 7th to 30th.

When he can shoot the gap he's ok, but as a 3-4 nt to hold up blockers...doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I think he's good enough to control the point of attack and hold his ground in the middle. He's not gonna be elite but you could field a good defense with him at NT.

Mecca just talks crap on him because he's Krumrie's boy.

wasi 08-13-2009 03:42 PM

Edwards came into the league as a NT if I recall correctly.
