LOL yup. We have our own version of that around here. Fun to listen to, but never to be taken seriously.

For me, I can also see some Patriots/Chiefs AFCCG in this one

I remember going into that game, I thought we were winning for certain. New England had looked vulnerable all year, even lost like 2 of their last 3 or 4 regular season games.

Then… we know what happened. Sure we gave the game away, but Mahomes kept us in it that night. NE had a bunch of dudes who had been there done that and knew what it took to compete in a spot they probably shouldn’t have won.

This is why I can’t see this one being a blowout either which way.

I'll never forget how hard they celebrated after they sealed that win. Guys looked like they were all 20 year vets winning their FIRST Super Bowl. They knew that was a huge accomplishment, and I'm not sure they expected to win that game.

Most with Mahomes hobbled and his receivers hurt.

I’m excited for Sunday. We’re playing with house money.

**** house money. WE ARE the Alpha dogs not some scrappy underdog bullshit. So tired of hearing this phrase.

For comparison the Chiefs are second in the league in sacks just barely behind us and are 7th in the league in blitz percentage at 32.9%. Ravens have had a ton of success this year with pressure from the DL, with Justin Madubuike having an absolute monster year and Clowney tying his career high in sacks at 9.5.

That's just a product of who we are this year. Our corners are very sticky and safety play has been good. We can blitz more knowing we are still good in cover 0. We disguise these coverages exceptionally well also, thats what spags does. I also won't be surprised if we drop 8, rush 2 and have a spy on Lamar on some 3rd and longs. Should be a good cat and mouse games with Spags. Our O-line is going to have a tough task. Clowney looks rejuvenated this year. We are going to miss Thuney, but Allegretti is a great back up, but if we have another injury it could get dicey. The Chiefs need guys to step up on offense like MVS did last week and not turn the ball over. Its going to be a battle.

Let's start with why you're using arguably the worst game of Lamar's career, 4 years ago, as the comparison game. Is the body of work this year - or the playoff game 3 days ago - not probably the better barometer? The titans defense wasn't even that good in 2019. They were 12th in points allowed and 21st in yards allowed. We just sucked all around and Lamar was awful. But, again, four years ago.

Also, the Lamar buckling under the pressure narrative is tired and just untrue. Pressure seemed pretty high on Christmas against the 49ers and then the next week at home to secure the one seed against the Dolphins. I can't remember but I think he did pretty well? Pressure was high this past week to get the haters off his back and advance to the AFCCG for the first time and he had 4 TDs.

I think a frustrating part as an opposing fan on a board is when you just read selective memory nonsense. I don't think it's productive or fair to just talk about the worst game of Mahomes career (2020 SB?) and pretend that game has literally any impact on the one about to be played this weekend.

Comparing a regular season game or a game against a rookie QB is not the same pressure as the AFC Championship game against a team he has largely struggled to beat against a QB that is the face of the league.

There is an immense amount of pressure on Lamar Jackson to outplay Mahomes and prove the doubters wrong..Baltimore in general has a ton of pressure, you're at home, you're suppose to win....you get the team that does this all the time.

Yup, until the other team has Patrick Mahomes and we don't.

Totally nervous for the game, solely because of Patrick Mahomes. The KC defense is good, too, but a lot of teams have good defenses. PM is just a generational talent that plays his best football in the playoffs, as you well know.

Think it will be a good game, and likely within 4 points or so either way. I've seen some people talk about Andrews with mixed reactions, but one user pointed out that he thinks Andrews will actually mess with the chemistry (paraphrasing). I TOTALLY agree. I love Andrews, but likely has been fantastic, and we've been playing the best football since 2019 since Christmas, so I'm a bit nervous to mess with that.

Good post.

7 Nation Army still sucks balls though. Please tell me you don't chant that bullshit...

Oh hey a song has Baltimore in it! It's absolutely terrible but look at us! "Chants like a bunch of reeruns"

Meh, I don't agree. There's pressure IN Baltimore, but if you look at the players, they don't seem pressured. Their spirits are high and they seem to have a pretty jovial yet locked in attitude lately.

And besides, my point was to compare apples to apples - not focusing in on a singular game 4 years ago to base a conclusion. 4 years ago the Chiefs lost the SB and Mahomes had one of his worst ever statistic games. Why would I bring that up as relevant - in any way - to this weekend's game? It's dumb.

No...I totally don't sing along to that with the rest of the crowd...as if. But let's tread lightly on the team chants. That Tomahawk Chop ain't it.

Football team message boards are really about 90% useless but it is nice when you find that 10%. I would say selective memory takes are more like hopeful wishing.

I have watched only a few hours of Ravens football this year but you guys are on a great run. Easily beat teams don’t make it this far. But every team has weaknesses. I do think Kc’s best bet is stopping the run enough to make you pass more than you should. If you think you can throw the ball all over the field you will probably lose. Wish we had flowers. Kid seems special.

We have the experience which definitely counts for something. I envision this game to be a one score game first to 27 wins.

Good luck Ravens. #15 is all about legacy and catching Brady. It will not be an easy win.

FYI ravens board has the same 90% 10% split :thumb:

Ps We are all nervous and hopeful we win. Anyone who is 100% confident is a fraud

I get that people think Lamar is going to win MVP...Lamar is even this year wildly inconsistent. People be like oh look at the Dolphins game or the Lions game...yes but how about all of the 150 yard passing games?

Agreed... Mahomes gets a rare opportunity to play with house $$$ and as an underdog, while the pressure is massive on Lamar.

If the Chiefs can build an early lead... even like 10-0, or 13-7... Lamar will start to wilt.

Mecca 01-23-2024 10:38 AM

If Lamar plays like crap all you'll hear is that he's a playoff choker and he'll be 1-4 against Mahomes, that is massive pressure when you want to be judged as an equal to that player.
