I haven't been able to run or play soccer since Friday night. Bruised the bones in the bottom of my foot. No good. I did lift on Monday, though. Just been concentrating on diet.

Will lift again tomorrow, and hopefully my foot will be ready to go by Friday night.

That sucks. I have not been able to play or lift since we played against you. Cracked ribs. Yesterday was the first day i have sneezed and not had my eyes swell up in tears.

Cracked ribs? Geez! Sucks, man!

I know the feeling.

Been wanting to try kettle bells for about a month and in my usual half-assed bravado I watch a couple kettle bell workouts on Youtube before going to the gym on Tuesday, proceed to pick up a 30lb and do a couple swings which resulted in a torn muscle in my ribs. I won't be lifting anything for a couple more days but it's healing fast and going back on Monday.

I'm gonna try the same workout again but I'm starting with a 10lb. That's a lot of torque being swung around and a totally different workout than free weights. I see a lot of potential there however. Just need to strengthen up those odd ball muscles that don't get used with my regular workout.

I've been going to the gym. Got a free consult at the new gym I signed up with, and they gave me a complete weight training regimen that combines a couple of machines with a lot of free weights, and body resistance. I'm pretty excited about it.

I'm still working on getting those lungs back up to 8 miles of running, but 3.1 is my limit so far. That's slower than I was at, but faster than where I started. Just getting back into my flow, and trying to get the eating back under control. Since I'm kind of struggling with that, it's time to focus on what I'm eating so I can control those pesky little calories. Now, to start drinking less alcohol............

Ouch. Sorry man.

There's a reason I recommend that people take a class or seminar from an RKC instructor before diving into kettlebells. I always worry that people will see my constant promotion of kbs on here and decide that they'll just dive into them... end up getting hurt... then be cursing my name for recommending kettlebells to them.

Mr. Flopnuts 10-07-2010 01:58 PM

3.25 miles today running. Felt like I could've gone longer, but am trying to rebuild those lungs the right way.

Phase one of my plan has been successful: 32 hours of sleep over the last 3 nights.

Hey floppy, don't just think about your lungs. Between the weight (I'm assuming...) you've put back on and the strength you lost in the time off, you're not physically where you were when you were running longer distances. Just be careful. I know the urge is there to "Push! Be a man!," I just don't want to see you injure something because you try to do too much too soon.

(Warning given from personal experience...)

A couple of bites of grilled chicken.

Oh it's not a bad one at all just a little sore. I'm definitely not giving up on them just starting out a lot lighter (BIG difference between dumbells and swinging one of those puppy's around) AND taking a class.

No permanent damage.

Absolutely. I'm going to limit running to 3 days a week for a minimum of a month, and maybe longer depending on how I'm feeling. I'll use the Arc Trainer for cardio on off days, and maybe walking on an incline on the treadmill. I'm going to be starting the resistance training back up immediately. Either tomorrow, or Saturday.

This is it, Mr. Flopnuts. This is the beginning of your final surge to being skinny.

Don't let up until that fat is deader than a 49er.
